Academic Tech Tuesdays Schedule

Join Leah Hauge, Academic Technologist, and guest experts to focus on a Tech Tool that you can implement in your instruction right away! Each 30-minute session will include a guided tour of a key feature, with suggested next steps to try the tool on your own. All sessions will be held via Zoom, and recordings will be shared here for those who wish to review the content or explore the tools at their convenience. Brightspace Best Practice Series 

Join us for a deep dive into a Brightspace course feature. Review the basics, best practices and new features! We’ll target the frequently asked questions that come to the CTLA team. You’ll walk away with knowledge and specific resources you can refer back to.  

Brightspace Discussions | January 27th, 2026, 10:30–11:00 AM

Design meaningful discussion activities that support engagement and learning. Learn how to structure discussions, manage dates (due, start, end) and visibility settings, and explore new functionality that allows you to set a due date for the first post in a discussion topic!

Brightspace Announcements, Activity Feed & Staying Connected with Learners | February 10, 2026, 10:30–11:00 AM

Explore ways to improve communication and engagement using Announcements and the Activity Feed. We’ll cover strategies for sharing timely updates, gathering quick feedback, and reaching learners more effectively, including a new feature to email announcement copies to students who aren’t subscribed to notifications!

Brightspace Quizzes | February 24, 2026, 10:30–11:00 AM

Walk through the steps to create a quiz in Brightspace. We’ll share how to create question pools, randomize questions, and the new features, including printing offline quizzes and using zero-point questions to collect feedback or non-graded information.

Brightspace Gradebook | March 24, 2026, 10:30–11:00 AM

Get comfortable setting up and managing your Brightspace Gradebook. In this session, we’ll review grade calculations, visibility settings, inevitable issues from course edits, and common workflows to help ensure grade items are clear and correct.

Google AI Series

Several new Google tools are available to faculty, staff, and students this year! Join these sessions to learn more about these tools and how to make them work for you. In each session, we’ll explore how they’re being used at the college, and best practices for thoughtful implementation.
