Google Sheets is the Google version of Microsoft Excel and is not merely for math and numbers! Google Sheets is a powerful tool that can be used by teachers and students in all subject areas to organize and analyze information and data. This course is designed to explore and demonstrate how you can go beyond the basics in Google Sheets to use it as a tool to increase effectiveness and efficiency. This course will provide explicit instruction in using Google Sheets to organize, analyze, formulate, visually enhance, and use data for other tasks. This course will also provide an introduction to some add-ons and access to other resources for creative uses of Google Sheets.

GOOGLE SHEETS is Google's equivalent to Microsoft Excel.

There are many similarities between the two and some differences as well.

In regards to FUNCTIONALITY, both are exceptional tools for organizing, manipulating, and analyzing data.

THE HAND OFF...

Follow these steps to create and share a NEW Google Sheet that includes these advanced features.

  1. Open a new, blank Google Sheet.

  2. Add at least the following 2 tabs to this, turning it into a “workbook.”

    • Data

    • Charts/Graphs

  3. Include at least 3 columns of data with header rows on the “Data” tab.

  4. Use at least 2 different types of formulas on the “Data” tab.

  5. Use at least 1 type of function on the “Data” tab.

  6. Use data from the “Data” tab to create at least 2 different types of charts/graphs on the “Charts/Graphs” page.

  7. Share the link to workbook you created as you complete this Google Sheets: Beyond the Basics Wrap Up Survey
