Swivl

Swivl is a system that allows teachers to record themselves using an ipad and the swivl base.  When paired with the remote, the system rotates on the base following the remote as the teacher moves.  The video is uploaded to an account and can be viewed on demand by the teacher and anyone he/she shares the link with.

Guiding Questions for Reflection

What am I supposed to be looking for while watching the video?

We need to know what to reflect upon when watching the video of our teaching. Otherwise, it is easy to get caught up in the "Does my head really look like that from behind?" thoughts. Use the button below to view guides to help you through the reflection process. (Keep in mine the expectations your principal has set forth.)

App Settings

In the Swivl app (on the iPad), under Settings make sure the following are turned on:

Reminders While Recording

The purpose of video recording is to improve teacher practices. It is not meant to be a "gotcha" discipline tool with students.

It is also important to remember those students that are on the "Do Not Publish" list. It is our professional responsibility to do our due diligence in keeping those students out of the video. It may be that you record a different class period. You also might move the student to an area of the classroom that isn't going to be recorded and make sure that you do not move in that direction. If you do, make sure to stop tracking yourself while in that area.
