Photograph of Spring Activity: Kindly email me one photograph of your child participating in an outdoor spring activity by Monday, May 4th. Your child will use the photograph in an integrated spring activities themed Show and Share on Friday, May 8th. Merci beaucoup!
Home and School Association Meeting: Sherwood School’s next Home and School Association meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 5th at 6:00 p.m. in the school’s Library. All parents/guardians are welcome to attend.
Kids in the Know Program: Our school’s guidance counsellor, Madame Swan, finished teaching our class the Second Step program on Friday, April 24th. She will be beginning teaching the Kids in the Know program, _____. Her first lesson will be on Wednesday, May 6th.
Book Exchange: Our next book exchange will be on Friday, May 8th, Day 2. Please have your child return their Library book(s) by or on Thursday, May 7th, Day 1. Merci!

Show and Share: Your child will use a photograph of themselves participating in an outdoor spring activity in an integrated spring activities themed Show and Share on Friday, May 8th. Merci beaucoup!
Save the Date! Kindergarten Orientation Day: Kindly note that there will be no school for current Kindergarten students on Friday, June 5th as it will be an orientation day for next year's students. There will be regular school for all other grades.

Here are a few points of information pertaining to the week ahead:
Leader/Assistant: Our first leader of the day will be Thomas S. and our first assistant will be Winter this week.
Theme: Our theme will Insects again this week. We will also touch on Mother's Day.
Practicum Student: Our class will be pleased to welcome Lamine, a _____ student from College de l'Île, into our classroom community to complete a practicum from Monday, May 4th until Friday, May 29th.
Assessment and Evaluation: I will be working with each student individually to assess their progress in fine motor, early numeracy and early literacy development again this week. Our daily routine will be adjusted slightly to accommodate this activity.
Field Trip to the Confederation Centre of the Arts: Our class will be going to the Confederation Center of the Arts to see Charlottetown Rural High School's production of The Wizard of Oz on Wednesday, May 13th. We will be travelling by school bus, departing from the school at 9:00 a.m. and returning by 12:30 p.m. Students will be eating lunch upon our return. Kindly remember to pack your child's water bottle and full change of clothes (in a large Ziploc bag) in their backpack on that date. It is sure to be a fun morning for all!
End-of-Year Field Trips
Victoria Park: Our class will be going to Victoria Park on Wednesday, June 17th. (The rain date will be on Thursday, June 18th.) We will be travelling by school bus, departing from the school at 9:00 a.m. and returning by 1:30 p.m. Kindly ensure your child is dressed comfortably for the weather, including a sun hat, sun glasses and a spring coat. Please also apply unscented sunscreen on them at home. Kindly also pack your child's water bottle, lunch kit, towel and full change of clothes (in a large Ziploc bag) in their backpack. We will be eating a picnic lunch at Victoria Park. It is sure to be a fun day for all!
Charlottetown Fire Department and City Cinema: Our class will be going to the Charlottetown Fire Department and City Cinema on Tuesday, June 23rd. We will be travelling by school bus, departing from the school at 9:00 a.m. and returning by 1:45 p.m. Kindly ensure your child is dressed comfortably for the weather, including a sun hat, sun glasses and a spring coat. Please also apply unscented sunscreen on them at home. Kindly also pack your child's water bottle, lunch kit, towel and full change of clothes (in a large Ziploc bag) in their backpack. We will be eating a picnic lunch at the Connaught Square Park. It is sure to be a fun day for all!
Payment for Field Trips: Payment for your child's field trips can be made online at Sherwood HotLunches or by cash until Wednesday, May 13th and Tuesday, June 23rd respectfully. If paying by cash, kindly send exact change in an envelope, clearly labelled with your child’s name on it and the purpose of the payment. The fee for your child to go to the Confederation Centre of the Arts will be $5.00 and our End-of-Year Activities $20.00.
Parent Chaperones for End-of-Year Field Trips: Our class will require a minimum of one parent chaperone for each of our end-of-year field trips. If you are able to accompany us on one of them, kindly write me a note in your child’s Communication duo-tang, indicating which one, and I will provide you with a letter to obtain a Criminal Records Check/Vulnerable Sector Screen free of charge. All parent chaperones are required to submit a Criminal Records Check/Vulnerable Sector Screen to the school’s office prior to the date of the field trip. The dates are below:

Morning Arrival Punctuality: Sherwood School's first morning bell rings at 8:25 a.m., signalling the beginning of our Homeroom period. Kindly ensure that your child arrive at that time each day. If they arrive after the second morning bell, which rings at 8:40 a.m. and signals the end of our Homeroom period, they will be marked as Late. Thank you for supporting your child's regular attendance and punctuality as they are key to their academic success.
Kindly make punctuality a priority.
Afternoon Dismissal Punctuality: Sherwood School's first afternoon dismissal bell rings at 2:35 p.m. At that time, our class exits the school doors closest to the bus parking lot. First, we stop at the Gaga Ball Pit and I dismiss students who go to KidHub After School Program. Next, we walk to the gazebo and I dismiss students who are being picked up. Finally, we walk to the bus parking lot and I drop students off at their designated buses.
If you are picking up your child, kindly make every effort to meet your child at the gazebo no later than 2:40 p.m. Merci!
Snacks: Kindly pack a minimum of two snacks in your child's lunch box for them to eat at our morning snack time. Merci beaucoup!
Peanut/Nut Free School: Kindly ensure that your child’s snacks and lunch are peanut/nut free.
Water Bottle: Kindly remember to send a filled water bottle with your child each day. Merci beaucoup!
