Free White Milk: The PEI School Milk Foundation will be providing white milk to all Kindergarten students free of charge from Monday, September 8th until Friday, September 26th. I will be taking orders daily from students.
Chocolate milk and pizza will continue to be available to order online through Sherwood School's HotLunches program.
French Language Monitor: Madame Marie Aceac, Sherwood School's French Language Monitor, will begin working in our classroom on Monday, September 8th.
School Pictures: School Pictures of all Kindergarten students will be taken on Tuesday, September 9th by Harvey Studios.
Second Step Program: Our school’s guidance counsellor, Madame Swan, will be teaching our class a series of lessons that fosters children's social-emotional competence and foundational learning skills, based on the Second Step program. Her first lesson will be on Thursday, September 11th, Day 6.
Correction! Meet the Staff: I look forward to seeing all parents/caregivers at Sherwood School's Meet the Staff night on Wednesday, September 17th at 6:00 p.m. in the school's gymnasium. This information session will be intended for parents/caregivers only.
Reminders
Here are a few points of information pertaining to the week ahead:
Leader/Assistant: Our first leader of the day will be Abby and our assistant will be Alayna.
Theme: This week, our themes will be Names and Colours.
Activity Books: Your child is welcome to finish the thematic activity books that will be sent home in their zippered bag from time to time for fine motor practice. They do not need to be returned to school. Merci!
Breakfast Program: The school's breakfast program will need of volunteers. Kindly contact the coordinator, Elina John, (902-368-6780) if you are able to help. All volunteers will need a criminal record check valid for 2 years.
Earbud Headphones: Kindly send 1 pair earbud headphones in your child's zippered bag, if you have not already done so. I will be adding a Listening Centre to our Free Choice centres. Please also remember to label them. Merci beaucoup!
Fall Coat: Kindly ensure that your child is dressed warmly for outdoor recesses each day, including a fall coat. Recesses will be much more enjoyable for them if they are prepared for the weather.
Splash Pants/Rain Boots: Kindly have your child wear splash pants and rain boots on days when the ground is wet so that they do not get their clothes and shoes wet or muddy in the school yard. Students go outside for recesses as long as it is not pouring, however, the play equipment may be wet.
Independence: Kindly have your child practice zippering up or buttoning up their coat(s) at home so that they can get dressed for outdoor recesses and afternoon dismissal as independently as possible. Merci beaucoup!
