Field Trip to Beamish Orchard: Our class will be going on a field trip to Beamish Orchard in Warren Grove on Friday, October 3rd. We will be travelling by bus, leaving the school at 9:00 a.m. and returning by 11:15 a.m., in time for lunch. The rain date will be Monday, October 6th. Kindly ensure that your child is dressed comfortably for the weather on this date, including a coat, splash pants and rubber boots as necessary. Please also pack your child's water bottle, lunch kit and full change of clothes (in a large Ziploc bag) in their backpack. We will be eating snack at the orchard. Kindly be sure to pack extra snacks in your child's lunch kit as they may be hungrier than usual upon our return to the school. It is sure to be a fun morning for all!
Students will enjoy a tour of the orchard and a wagon ride as well as eat an apple and drink some cider on this outing. Kindly note that students will not be picking a bag of apples.
Payment for Field Trips: Payment for your child's field trips can be made online at Sherwood HotLunches or by cash until Wednesday, October 8th. If paying by cash, kindly send exact change in an envelope, clearly labelled with your child’s name on it and the purpose of the payment. The fee for your child to go to Beamish Orchard and Victoria Park is $7.00.
Show and Share: All students are invited to bring a small toy of their choice from home for Show and Share on Friday, October 3rd. Kindly help your child prepare to talk to the class about their chosen toy in French. This week, please help your child introduce themselves. The following sentence structure may be helpful to them: Bonjour! Je m’appelle _____.
Kindly remember not to send toys with your child on days other than Show and Share.
Reminders
Here are a few points of information pertaining to the week ahead:
Leader/Assistant: Our first leader of the day will be Anthony and our first assistant will be Avery this week.
Theme: Our theme will be Apples this week. We will also be touching on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Water Bottle: Kindly remember to send a filled water bottle with your child each day. They are very active throughout the school day and get thirsty. Merci beaucoup!
Reminder! Rain or Shine Play: Students will be playing outside at recess, rain or shine, except in heavy rain or when temperatures reach a windchill of -20. Kindly ensure your child is dressed appropriately to play in all weather conditions.
Fall Coat: Kindly ensure that your child is dressed warmly for outdoor recesses each day, including a fall coat. Recesses will be much more enjoyable for them if they are prepared for the weather.
Splash Pants/Rain Boots: Kindly have your child wear splash pants and rain boots on days when the ground is wet so that they do not get their clothes and shoes wet or muddy in the school yard. Students go outside for recesses as long as it is not pouring, however, the play equipment may be wet.
Independence: Kindly have your child practice zippering up or buttoning up their coat(s) at home so that they can get dressed for outdoor recesses and afternoon dismissal as independently as possible. Merci beaucoup!
Home and School Playground Fund: Donations to Sherwood School's Home and School Playground Fund can be made anytime throughout the year on the school's HotLunches program.
Have an amazing week!
