Free White Milk: The PEI School Milk Foundation will continue to provide white milk to all Kindergarten students free of charge until Friday, September 26th.  I will be taking orders daily from students.

Chocolate milk and pizza will continue to be available to order online through Sherwood School's HotLunches program.

Book Exchange: Our next book exchange will be on Tuesday, September 23rd, Day 2.  Please have your child return their Library book(s) by or on Monday, September 22nd, Day 1.  Merci!

Updated!  School Pictures: Kindly return your child's Harvey Studios school picture order by Friday, September 26th, if placing it through the school. 

Family Barbecue: Sherwood School's Home and School Association will be hosting a family barbecue on Wednesday, September 24th from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.  I look forward to seeing all families there. 

Terry Fox School Run:

Our class will be participating in Sherwood School’s annual Terry Fox School Run on Thursday, September 25th from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. at Rosedale Park.  Kindly ensure that your child is dressed comfortably for the run and weather on this date.  The rain date for this event will be Friday, September 26th.

Students are also invited to donate a Loonie or Toonie for Terry at school until the day of the run.  Please send coins in an envelope, clearly labelled with your child’s name and the purpose of the payment (Terry Fox School Run) on it. 

Show and Share: All students are invited to bring a small toy of their choice from home for Show and Share on Friday, September 26th.  Kindly help your child prepare to talk to the class about their chosen toy in French.  This week, please help your child introduce themselves.  The following sentence structure may be helpful to them:  Bonjour!  Je m’appelle _____.  

Kindly remember not to send toys with your child on days other than Show and Share.

Field Trip to Beamish Orchard:  Our class will be going on a field trip to Beamish Orchard in Warren Grove on Friday, October 3rd.  We will be travelling by bus, leaving the school at 9:00 a.m. and returning by 11:15 a.m., in time for lunch. The rain date will be Monday, October 6th.  Kindly ensure that your child is dressed comfortably for the weather on this date, including a coat, splash pants and rubber boots as necessary.  Please also pack your child's water bottle, lunch kit and full change of clothes (in a large Ziploc bag) in their backpack.  We will be eating snack at the orchard.  Kindly be sure to pack extra snacks in your child's lunch kit as they may be hungrier than usual upon our return to the school.  It is sure to be a fun morning for all!  

Students will enjoy a tour of the orchard and a wagon ride as well as eat an apple and drink some cider on this outing.

Payment for Field Trips:  Payment for your child's field trips can be made online at Sherwood HotLunches or by cash until Wednesday, October 8th.  If paying by cash, kindly send exact change in an envelope, clearly labelled with your child’s name on it and the purpose of the payment.  The fee for your child to go to  Beamish Orchard and Victoria Park is $7.00.

Reminders

Here are a few points of information pertaining to the week ahead:

Leader/Assistant:  Our first leader of the day will be Winter and our first assistant will be Xavier this week.

Theme:  Our theme will be School Supplies this week.

Cutlery:  Kindly remember to pack cutlery in your child’s lunch box, if they require a fork or spoon.  Unfortunately, it is not provided with any of the lunch programs.  Merci!

Independence:  Kindly help your child be as independent as possible when getting ready to go outdoors for recesses/afternoon dismissal.  Please ensure they can tie their own shoelaces, if they wears shoes with laces, and can fasten their own sweaters/jackets.

Reminder!  Rain or Shine Play: Students will be playing outside at recess, rain or shine, except in heavy rain or when temperatures reach a windchill of -20. Kindly ensure your child is dressed appropriately to play in all weather conditions.
