Book Exchange: Our next book exchange will be on Tuesday, February 10th, Day 2.  Please have your child return their Library book(s) by or on Monday, February 9th, Day 1.  Merci!

Valentine's Day Card Exchange: Our class will be exchanging Valentine’s Day cards on Thursday, February 12th.  Kindly have your child write a card to each student in our class.  Please have them use the class list in their Communication duo tang in their zippered bag.  Kindly have your child bring in their cards by or on Wednesday, February 11th.  Joyeuses Saint Valentin!

Show and Share: All students are invited to bring a small toy of their choice from home for Show and Share on Thursday, February 12th.  Kindly assist your child to introduce themselves, identify their toy and describe its colours in French.  The following sentence structure may be helpful to them:

Bonjour!  Je m’appelle _____.  Voici ma/mon _____.  C'est _____.  Merci!

Valentine's Day Spirit Day: All students are invited to dress in pink, red and white or hearts on Thursday, February 12th in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

Valentine's Day Party: Our class will be celebrating Valentine's Day on Thursday, February 12th by playing bingo and enjoying a snack together.  I will provide a healthy snack that is individually wrapped in its original packaging and labelled as Peanut/Nut Free.  Merci beaucoup! 

I am Experience: Our class will be attending an I am Experience assembly on Thursday, February 12th at 12:30 p.m.  It will be a presentation that celebrates resilience, self-worth and the power of believing in yourself.

Professional Learning Day: Kindly note that Sherwood School will be closed on Friday, February 13th as it will be a Professional Learning Day for teachers.

Islander Day: Kindly note that Sherwood School will be closed on Monday, February 16th as it will be Islander Day. 

Sherwood School's Home and School Association Cash Draw Fundraiser: Sherwood School's Home and School Association will be hosting a cash draw fundraiser from Monday, February 9th until Monday, February 23rd.  Kindly see the envelope containing further information and tickets that was sent home in your child's zippered bag on Monday, February 9th. 

Notes

Here are a few points of information pertaining to the week ahead:

Family Approved Absence: Kindly write me a note in your child's communication duo tang if your child will be away from school between Monday, February 9th and Friday, February 20th for a foreseen family approved absence and have not already let me know.  Thank you very much!

Leader/Assistant: Our first leader of the day will be Xavier and our first assistant will be Zyrra this week.

Theme: Our theme will be Valentine's Day this week.  We will also touch on the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games.

After-School Pick Up: Kindly park your vehicle in the Cody Banks Arena parking lot and walk over to the gazebo next to Sherwood School to pick up your child after school at 2:35 p.m..  Thank you for helping to keep all students safe!

Assessment and Evaluation: I will be working with each student individually to assess their progress in fine motor, early numeracy and early literacy development again this week.  Our daily routine will be adjusted slightly to accommodate this activity. 

Head Lice: Kindly check your child's hair for head lice regularly.  Thank you for taking a proactive approach towards reducing the spread at home and at school.
