Grade 1 Winter Concert: Our class will be attending the Grade 1 Winter Concert on Tuesday, January 27th at 10:15 a.m.
Family Literacy Day: Family Literacy Day takes place every January 27th to raise awareness about the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family. The theme for 2026 is Making Mealtime Family Learning Time. I hope that your family will enjoy making a favourite recipe together.
Book Exchange: Our next book exchange will be on Friday, January 30th, Day 2. Please have your child return their Library book(s) by or on Thursday, January 29th, Day 1. Merci!
Absence: Madame Danielle Duplessis will be replacing me for the day on Friday, January 30th as I will be attending a professional development session. Unfortunately, I will not able to check for email messages or take telephone calls on that date.
Show and Share: All students are invited to bring a small toy of their choice from home for Show and Share on Friday, January 30th. Kindly assist your child to introduce themselves, identify their toy and describe its colours in French. The following sentence structure may be helpful to them:
Bonjour! Je m’appelle _____. Voici ma/mon _____. C'est _____. Merci!
Notes
Here are a few points of information pertaining to the week ahead:
Leader/Assistant: Our first leader of the day will be Anthony and our first assistant will be Avery this week.
Theme: Our theme will be Polar Animals this week.
Assessment and Evaluation: I will be working with each student individually to assess their progress in fine motor, early numeracy and early literacy development this week. Our daily routine will be adjusted slightly to accommodate this activity.
Extra Hat and Mittens/Gloves: Kindly double-check that your child has an extra hat and an extra pair of waterproof mittens/gloves in their backpack each day. Please remember to label them too! Merci!
Head Lice: Kindly check your child's hair for head lice regularly. Thank you for taking a proactive approach towards reducing the spread at home and at school.
Sweater/Sweatshirt: Kindly send a sweater/sweatshirt with your child if they are wearing a t-shirt. Our classroom is cool when the school doors closest to our classroom are open.
Winter Activity Show and Share: Thank you for emailing me a photograph of your child participating in an outdoor winter activity for our integrated Winter Activities themed Show and Share on Friday, January 23rd. All students were very excited to tell the class about their chosen activity. Merci beaucoup!
Kindly find the link to our slideshow below. Some students asked to show it to their families!
