Our class will be celebrating the upcoming summer break in a fun way each day again this week. All students are invited to participate in each "Summer Spirit Day"!
Dates
Monday, June 22nd - Day 2 (Library and Physical Education)
Grade 1 Teacher and Classroom Visits: Our class will be meeting both Grade 1 French Immersion teachers and visiting their classrooms from 10:45 - 11:15 a.m. on this date. Kindly note that students will not be assigned to a specific teacher or classroom for this activity.
Summer Kindergarten Classroom Rotation: Our class will be participating in a Summer Kindergarten Classroom Rotation from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. on this date. Students from each class will be grouped together and will rotate through a variety of five different activities, one in each of the classrooms.
Final PBIS Assembly: Our class will be attending Sherwood School's final PBIS (Positive Behavioural Intervention and Support) assembly from 1:45 - 2:25 p.m. on this date.
Library Book Return Deadline: Kindly have your child return all of their library books by or on this date. I will be sending parents of students who still have overdue library books an email with the title(s) and author(s). Merci beaucoup!
Tuesday, June 23rd - Day 3 (No Specialist Class)
Sherwood School Spirit Day: Students are invited to dress in green and/or white to show their pride in Sherwood School on this date. Your child could also wear their crested t-shirt, if they have one.
Charlottetown Fire Department and City Cinema: Our class will be going to the Charlottetown Fire Department and City Cinema on Tuesday, June 23rd. We will be travelling by school bus, departing from the school at 9:00 a.m. and returning by 1:45 p.m. Kindly ensure your child is dressed comfortably for the weather, including a sun hat, sun glasses and a spring coat. Please also apply unscented sunscreen on them at home. Kindly also pack your child's water bottle, lunch kit, towel and full change of clothes (in a large Ziploc bag) in their backpack. We will be eating a picnic lunch at the Connaught Square Park. It is sure to be a fun day for all!
Wednesday, June 24th - Day 4 (Classroom Support and Physical Education)
Vibrant Rainbow Colour Day: All staff and students of Sherwood School are invited to wear vibrant rainbow colours on this date, in support of PEI's PRIDE month, the month of June. In doing so, we will be celebrating what makes us each unique with Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Diversity and Excellence.
French Immersion Kindergarten Classroom Rotation: Our class will be participating in French Immersion Kindergarten Classroom Rotation from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. on this date. Students from each class will be grouped together and will rotate through a variety of three different activities, one in each of the classrooms.
Pride Parade: Our class will be participating in Sherwood School's annual Pride Walk at 2:05 p.m. on this date.
Thursday, June 25th - Day 5 (Music)
Canada Day Party: Our class will be celebrating Canada Day on this date by playing bingo and enjoying a snack together. I will provide a frozen treat that is packaged individually and labelled as Peanut/Nut and Dairy Free.
Show and Share: All students are invited to bring a small toy of their choice from home for Show and Share on this date. Kindly assist your child to introduce themselves, identify their toy and describe its colours in French. The following sentence structure may be helpful to them:
Bonjour! Je m’appelle _____. Voici ma/mon _____. C'est _____. Merci!
Please remember to not send toys with your child on days other than Show and Share. Merci beaucoup!
Third Term Report Cards: Your child’s third term report card will be sent home with them on this date.
Last Day of School: Kindly note that this date will be the last day of school of the 2025 - 2026 school year.
Notes
Here are a few points of information pertaining to the week ahead:
Leader/Assistant: Our first leader of the day will be Jackson and our first assistant will be Maeve this week.
Theme: Our theme will continue to be Summer again this week. We will also touch on Community Helpers again.
Bedtime Routine: With four days of school to go before the summer break, your child will benefit from a regular bedtime routine each evening. Being well rested will help prepare them to fully engage and participate in our busy school day together the next morning.
Extra Large Ziploc Bag: Kindly empty and return the extra large Ziploc bag that will be sent home with your child each day this week. It will contain all of their French Immersion Kindergarten materials.
Sherwood School's PBIS Expectations Matrix: Students are reminded to continue to Practice Kindness, Act Responsibly, Play & Work Safely and to Show Respect during our last week together in French Immersion Kindergarten. Let's make Forest the Fox proud of us as we gear up for summer!
Toys: Please do not send toys with your child on days other than Show and Share as they can be broken or get lost at school. Merci beaucoup!
Eye See…Eye Learn! Program: Kindly have your child take advantage of the Eye See … Eye Learn! Program before June 30th, 2026. The Eye See … Eye Learn! program is an eye health and vision awareness program which provides one free eye exam and, if needed, one free pair of glasses to all Kindergarten students across P.E.I. Please refer to the following link for further information:
Sun Hat/Sunglasses: Kindly pack a sun hat and sunglasses in your child’s backpack, if you would like your child to wear them during recess times. Merci!
Sunscreen: Kindly apply unscented sunscreen on your child at home, if you would like your child to have it on at school. Merci!
Sweater/Sweatshirt: Kindly send a sweater/sweatshirt with your child if your child will be wearing a t-shirt. Our classroom is climate controlled and can be cool at times.
Water Bottle: Kindly remember to send a filled water bottle with your child each day. Merci beaucoup!
Outdoor Free Play: As the weather gets warmer, our class will be starting to walk to Centennial or Rosedale Parks more regularly for our free play time between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. Kindly keep these times in mind, if you plan on picking your child up early from school. We will always be back to Sherwood School in time for the first afternoon dismissal bell rings, which rings at 2:35 p.m.
Payment for Field Trips: Payment for your child's field trips can be made online at Sherwood HotLunches or by cash until Tuesday, June 23rd. If paying by cash, kindly send exact change in an envelope, clearly labelled with your child’s name on it and the purpose of the payment. The fee for your child's End-of-Year Activities is $20.00.
