Grade 1 & 2 Girls' Mini Hockey

This term, our Grade 1 and 2 girls threw themselves into mini hockey with loads of energy and enthusiasm. We took part in a few festivals hosted by Notties Primary, Cowan House (on the St Anne’s astro), Laddsworth, and Howick, and it was awesome to see how much the girls improved with each outing. At this age, it’s all about building a love for sport, and it was clear from the smiles and sideline giggles that we’re on the right track. Sadly, we couldn’t host our own festival at Michaelhouse due to the weather, but the season was still packed with fun and progress.

A highlight was definitely our Inter-house hockey games, where we combined the Grade 1s and 2s and gave them the chance to show off their skills in front of their parents. The girls played with great spirit and showed just how far they’ve come. Congrats to Trojans for taking top spot, with Barbarians in second and Crusaders in third. Massive thanks to the coaches for their patience and time!

Grade 1 & 2 Boys' Mini Soccer

What a season it’s been for our youngest champions. We kicked things off with 12 energetic Grade 1 boys, forming two teams of 6, and 17 spirited Grade 2 boys, which allowed us to field three teams of 6. These boys brought incredible enthusiasm and heart to every match day.

Over the course of five exciting mini festivals, each team played three matches, perfect for sharpening foot-eye coordination and developing spatial awareness. Thursdays were all about focused skills training, and it was nothing short of magical to see those very skills come alive during Tuesday fixtures. With every touch, tackle, and goal, our boys grew in confidence and game sense.

The Grade 1s still had their moments of bunching around the ball like bees to honey, but you could see their intent to spread the game and play into space. The Grade 2s, on the other hand, began to show real structure. They passed with purpose, trusted the ball, and let it do the work, true signs of growing football IQ.

The season ended on a high with our Inter-house matches. The Grade 1s, short on numbers, displayed great sportsmanship by playing across houses. That spirit saw the Barbarians rise to victory, with the Trojans in second and Crusaders in third.

The Grade 2 games, Electric. You could feel the rivalry in the air. Every team had their moment to shine, but it was the Trojans who emerged triumphant. Crusaders and Barbarians shared second place in what was a fiercely contested showdown.

Here’s to the future of our football the passion, the promise, and the pure joy these boys bring to the beautiful game.
