Pre-School Duiker Dash - 16 June

A Celebration of Community and Culture at Dusk

The Clifton Pre-School Duiker Dash, held on 16 June, was a joyful celebration of community spirit, connection, and outdoor adventure. True to Clifton’s commitment to nurturing a strong sense of belonging and shared experience, the event brought together Pre-School families for an unforgettable dusk run filled with laughter, discovery, and forest magic.

Families arrived from 16.00, with races staggered for each age group—Grade 000, Grade 00, and Grade 0. At the start of each race, children and their accompanying adults received treasure maps, guiding them along a carefully marked route (the school cross country route) to search for natural “Clifton treasures” such as acorns, conkers, sticks, and leaves. The route encouraged exploration and curiosity, allowing children and parents to connect with nature while working together.

Adding to the atmosphere was live music performed by Mrs Robertson, which created a warm and festive energy as the sun set. Families gathered on picnic blankets, enjoyed boerewors rolls, and shared in the relaxed and joyful environment. Children arrived dressed in bright clothing, Clifton Champ T-shirts, torches and glow sticks, which lit up the dusk with colour and excitement.

The Duiker Dash was a true reflection of the values we uphold at Clifton: a celebration of family, community, and the wonder of childhood. The event provided a space for relationships to deepen, for culture to be shared, and for children to experience the joy of learning and playing alongside those who care for them most.

This memorable evening reaffirmed that Clifton is more than just a school—it is a community where families grow together.
