The highlight of the term was our much-loved termly show, held right here at the stables. It was wonderful to see our competitive riders achieving excellent results, but just as heartwarming was watching all the children simply enjoying themselves—doing what they love most. The smiles, the laughter, and the moments of triumph truly capture the spirit of what we strive to create.
As Term 2 comes to a close, we’re thrilled to reflect on what has been a truly fantastic term here at the equestrian centre. From progress in lessons to success in competitions, our riders have once again outdone themselves—and we couldn’t be prouder!
This term, our Grade 1 and 2 girls threw themselves into mini hockey with loads of energy and enthusiasm. We took part in a few festivals hosted by Notties Primary, Cowan House (on the St Anne’s astro), Laddsworth, and Howick, and it was awesome to see how much the girls improved with each outing.
What a season it’s been for our youngest champions. We kicked things off with 12 energetic Grade 1 boys, forming two teams of 6, and 17 spirited Grade 2 boys, which allowed us to field three teams of 6. These boys brought incredible enthusiasm and heart to every match day.
Chess, Drama, Soccer, Bake and Bond.
Our Junior and Senior runners have had an excellent cross country season this term. The focus has been on having a big squad of keen runners. It has been wonderful to see the group grow and thrive as we have set off into the forest and explored the various sections of the newly mapped tail.
It has been a fantastic term for our girls’ hockey. We’ve loved having most of our matches on the Astro this season – a real treat that’s helped the girls grow in confidence and skill. The shift from grass to Astro hasn’t always been easy, but the progress has been clear to see.
This rugby season has been both rewarding and revealing for our players, coaches, and supporters. One of the key successes has been the structure of our pre-season: each age group benefitted from taking part in two early-season festivals. These fixtures, scheduled before the formal start of the season, were invaluable.
Midlands Rugby Representation and Provincial Selections
Four of our boys were selected to represent the Midlands rugby teams at the recent trials, a commendable achievement that reflects their hard work and commitment to the sport. One of our boys earned a place in the U12A team (Jack Fyvie), another in the U13A team (Luthando Xulu), and two were selected for the U13B team (Joseph Bates and Michael Hacking).
