Dear Parents

After the rush of exams, reports, showcases, music recitals, Grandparent’s Day and everything that is the second term, excited children tumbled out of final assembly and the car park emptied in short order. As the last reports are about to head into the ether by email, calm descends over the campus and Clifton eases into rest and recovery mode. It comes as no surprise that, come the first week of the holidays, teachers outnumber all other professions in doctors’ waiting rooms. They seem to run on adrenalin and diligence in the final week of term, succumbing only once they have seen their charges safely off from school.

From the Classrooms

The grades 6 and 7 classes completed their exams and whilst this can be an anxious time for some, learning the strategies and habits of preparing for exams is best started young. They have also completed the first phase of an exciting Design Challenge. They have had great fun designing nature-based solutions to environmental issues including erosion, waste management, water provision and purification. This is part of an interesting academic extension exercise in which they will learn the design thinking process.

It was a real joy to celebrate the impressive work of the Grade 3 children when they visited my office with their projects and stories. They were clearly proud and excited to share their posters, and even more delighted to choose a sticker, a sweet, and one for their teacher too!
