Fireflies - Termly Reflection

The Fireflies have truly shone this term! Under the gentle guidance of Miss Hudson, this busy, bright, and brilliant bunch has grown in leaps and bounds—learning through play, exploration, discovery, and song. Each day has been filled with curiosity and joy, as the children have dived headfirst into the magic of early learning.

They are a lively group, full of wit and a wonderful sense of humour. Whether it’s during a game, a group activity, or a quiet story moment, the Fireflies keep each other (and their teacher!) on their toes—with warmth, honesty, and plenty of giggles. They are learning to hold themselves and one another accountable in the most thoughtful ways, helping to create a kind and connected classroom community.

One of the standout highlights of the term has been Horse Sense. The children have loved every moment—riding the ponies, learning to care for them, making special pony treats, and, of course, the much-loved walks down to the stables where they’ve gathered treasures from nature along the way. These adventures have nurtured their confidence, empathy, and wonder.

Another special moment was Grandparents’ Day, which was extra meaningful this term. The children beamed with pride as they shared songs, stories, and special moments with their beloved visitors.

It has been a term full of growth, laughter, learning, and light—just like our Fireflies.

Rooted in Wonder

An acrostic for the Shongololos, by Rebecca Robertson

Small hands exploring the world with wonder.

Happy hearts running free under open skies.

Outdoor play that sparks bold, brave adventure.

Nature is our classroom, full of surprises.

Giggling in gumboots, gathering treasures.

Over logs and under trees, we climb and discover.

Learning through laughter, movement, and mud.

Open minds asking curious questions.

Little lives are growing roots at our school.

Ours is a journey of joy, connection, and play!
