Space Day - 18 June
A Blast-Off to Remember!
To end off our exciting space theme, the Grade 2s celebrated Space Day in true explorer style on the 18 June. Dressed as space adventurers, the children were buzzing with excitement as they dived into a final day of discovery.
During the day, the children learned even more about the planets and the mysteries of space. One of the highlights was building their very own rockets out of 2-litre bottles. With the help of Mr Mortimer, the young scientists watched in amazement as their rockets were pumped with air, creating pressure that launched them high into the sky! It was thrilling to see how well the children understood the science behind it – learning that as the air pressure increases, the rocket expands and eventually blasts off.
The joy and laughter shared during these experiments were a clear sign that we have some future engineers and scientists in our midst.
Sadly, the clouds rolled in that evening, so we were unable to hold our much-anticipated “Night with the Stars”. There was some disappointment, but the children’s enthusiasm for space learning has not faded.
The Grade 2s have had a wonderful term exploring the solar system. They have gained a wealth of knowledge and curiosity that will no doubt continue to grow. Well done to all our young space explorers!
