Trip to Zingela - 7 - 9 May
An Unforgettable Three-Day Journey into Nature
Zingela Game Reserve recently came alive with the sounds of laughter, discovery, and adventure as a group of energetic Grade 3 champs set off on a three-day excursion into the heart of the bush. With eager anticipation, the children embarked on a journey that not only offered thrills and excitement but also set the perfect tone for their upcoming theme, Jock of the Bushveld.
From the very start, the excitement was palpable. Our hike into the reserve was nothing short of magical. Surrounded by the unspoiled beauty of the landscape, we were treated to sightings of giraffes in their droves, along with kudu, impala, and bushbuck—an awe-inspiring introduction to the wild.
Once at camp, the girls and boys enthusiastically engaged in all the activities on offer. A potjie cooking competition, paired with a fire-making challenge, was a particular highlight. The experience combined practical skills, teamwork, and a touch of friendly competition, making for an unforgettable time around the fire.
Water-based activities included a river study that sparked their curiosity and deepened their appreciation for the natural world around them. Kayaking and abseiling pushed the Grade 3 champs to challenge themselves in new ways.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the adventure continued with a nighttime scorpion hunt. Equipped with torches and eager minds, the children explored the fascinating nocturnal life of the bush, discovering a world that remains hidden during the day.
After a whirlwind of exploration, discovery, and laughter, we journeyed back home, tired but thrilled, with memories that will last a lifetime.
