LEARNING MATERIALS FOR SMALL PRIVATE ONLINE COURSES
LEARNING MATERIALS FOR SMALL PRIVATE ONLINE COURSES
When the pandemic began, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) have to adopt to new modalities of teaching and learning. The Bulacan State University (BulSU) committed to pursue her mission has implemented online learning to deliver relevant quality and accessible education to 21st-century learners and will continue to deliver more strategies and techniques to provide a new technologically advanced learning environment. This environment will allow instructors to deliver lessons more efficiently and become more effective educators, as well as students to continue their study despite the pandemic's issues.
Such goal will be made possible through the implementation of Small Private Online Courses (SPOC). SPOC enhances students' learning experiences by using advanced instructional resources and educational concepts
As an initial step, Quality Circle was created. This Quality Circle, the inner circle of the project, is composed of the faculty members from the concerned colleges / campuses whose specializations will meet the requirements of the task. One of which is the preparation of learning materials which include modules and the likes. The preparation of SPOC materials are well discussed and written in the guidelines made by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs .
See the details in the attached guidelines:

With schools shut down across the globe, millions of instructors and students have had to adapt to new learning set-up. Bulacan State University as higher education is committed to providing education that is accessible to deserving and qualified students through internationally-recognized and industry-responsive programs set in a 21st-century learning environment; thus the university adopt the flexible mode of learning in forms of synchronous, asynchronous, and remote printed learning, as one of the considerations of the Commission on Higher Education to mitigate the spread of novel coronavirus.
Furthermore, in this New Normal education set-up, the University with the Office of the Vice Presidents for Academic Affairs under the Unit of Educational Policy Development proposed a pro forma for the development of modules by the faculty. The module pro forma will address concerns on the learning of the students especially on the absence of teachers, promoting self-paced, self-contained, and self-directed learning which still aligned with the target learning competencies prescribed by the curriculum.
And to answer the call, the university prepare learning materials that are responsive to the New Learning Environment; moreover, module writing guidelines was proposed.
On the other hand, the assurance of having face – to – face delivery of instruction in the second semester is still uncertain, thus the University decided to continue the preparation of course modules by the BulSU faculty.
These modules are intended to promote self – paced, self – contained and self – directed learning which are aligned with the competencies prescribed in the curriculum. Since there was already a pro – forma / guidelines for the development of modules during the first semester, this ENHANCED MODULE WRITING GUIDELINES with the objective of modifying, redesigning, updating and revising this kind of instructional material is hereby proposed.
Attached are the detailed module writing guidelines and the enhanced copy.
