Top 5 Horror Movies of all time

Halloween is coming up, so when is a better time to binge-watch your favorite horror flicks than now? Horror movies have been around since the late 1800s, and since then, many phenomenal movies have been made.


“The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” the fifth-best horror movie of all time, came to theaters in 1974 and starred Marilyn Burns as Sally. The movie is about a group of friends on a road trip to Texas. The group went on this road trip to visit Drayton Sawyer's grave, which is Sally and Franklin's grandfather. The group ends up stopping at their family's old farmhouse when they encounter a chainsaw-wielding psychopath who lives in the house next door, and the group must do whatever they can to escape alive.


“Halloween,” the fourth-best horror movie of all time, came to theaters in 1978 and starred Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode. This movie is about a little boy, Michael Myers, who kills his sister on Halloween night in 1963 and is then locked up in a mental institution. Fifteen years later, on the 30th of October, 1978, while being transferred for a court date, Michael escapes after the bus he is on crashes. He then returns to his hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois where he searches for his next victims, which include his other sister, Laurie Strode.


“Psycho,” the third-best horror movie of all time, came to theaters in 1960 and starred Anthony Perkins as Norman Bates. This movie is about a woman on the road after getting fired from her job for embezzling money when she stops one night at The Bates Motel. While there she meets young Norman Bates, who has an obsession with taxidermy and a complicated relationship with his mother. Throughout the movie, she hears strange noises coming from Bate's room and discovers something horrifying.


“The Shining,” the second-best horror movie of all time, came to theaters in 1980 and starred Jack Nicholson as Jack Torrance. This movie is about a struggling writer, Jack Torrance, who becomes a caretaker at the Overlook Hotel in Colorado hoping to cure his writer's block. While there with his wife and son, they notice that their son's psychic visions are getting worse by being at the hotel. Over time, Jack discovers the hotel's dark secrets and eventually unravels into a homicidal maniac and tries to kill his family.


“The Exorcist,” the best horror movie of all time, came to theaters in 1973 and starred Linda Blair as Regan. This movie is about a young girl, Regan, who starts acting odd by levitating and mumbling weird sayings. Her mother gets extremely worried and tries to get her help from a doctor, but it ends up being a dead end. A local priest, tells Regan's Mother that he thinks the devil may have possessed her. They bring in an expert to perform an exorcism, and then after that things only get worse.
