Our school year is coming to an end very soon. With school being out, summer vacation is underway. Summer vacations in Ohio however, have the tendency to get old fast. Growing up, many have noticed that there is not much to do in the buckeye state. After the mask-filled summer of 2020, students are desperate to have a good summer for 2021. One way to help make your summer feel like a movie is to have a fun music playlist. There is an English singer/songwriter that should have at least one song on every summer playlist for 2021. Introducing George Ezra Barnett.
Geroge Ezra, a 27-year-old singer/songwriter and guitarist, has released some very popular songs over the years. His most popular song by far is the 2013 smashing hit, “Budapest,” which sold over 1.8 million copies and has over 197 million views on YouTube. George has made a ton of songs over the years and here are a few of the best ones that should be added to any summer playlist in 2021.

On the topic of locations, “Barcelona” is one of George Ezra’s best songs. Released in 2015, this song is light-hearted and fun. It opens up with a nice guitar, bass, and the calm singing voice of George Ezra. “Barcelona” tells a story and it is beautifully written. It has some repetitive lyrics but it’s very easy to follow and sing along to. The 3 minute and 9 second song has received 88k likes on youtube and over 17 million views.

This song radiates summer energy. There is a steel drum that opens up the song, and Ezra’s signature guitar is featured later in the song too. “Shotgun” is meant for those long drives on a warm summer day, driving to your next adventure. This song seems like it is written about a toxic relationship that needs to break up. The lyrics are sad, but the music is beautiful. George Ezra is accompanied by a choir of voices later in the song, making it the perfect song for hanging out by a campfire. This song deserves a lot more attention. The story of the song offers George Ezra as a shelter from the bad world around you. He wants you to use his music to escape. “Breakaway” is a great song if you're feeling blue, or you just want something to vibe to this summer.
