Nya Elliott has come back to Albert Einstein Academy after almost two years of being gone.

“My reasoning for coming back to AEA was because I had moved cities and didn’t want to go to my new local school district and decided to come back. ” she said.

Nya, 17, has a big interest in figure skating. “I have been very interested in skating since I was about eight years old. ” she said. “A friend took me figure skating one time and that’s how I found my love for figure skating.”

She first started taking lessons at Lakewood’s Winterhurst ice rink. Nya went into her first figure skating competition around the age of 12 and came out with a first-place trophy.

“It was a surprise winning first place in my first competition because I was so nervous before and thought I completely messed up my routine,” she said.

She also has a big interest in cosmetology and says that after high school she would love to go to a smaller trade school for cosmetology. “My interest in cosmetology started when I was very young when I taught myself to cut, dye, and style my own hair along with teaching myself at a young age how to do my own makeup,” she said.

She is very excited to complete high school and work more towards cosmetology and work more into a figure skating career.
