Student council held a dodge tournament Thursday, September 22, 2022, at the end of the school day to raise money for the school. There were five teams and the winning team got to play the teachers.
Student council advisor Jennette Thevenin explained the purpose of the dodgeball tournament.
“To help students and teachers spread school spirit,” Jeannette Thevenin said. “Since we don’t have sports teams, this was our “homecoming” back-to-school celebration.”
Thevenin also explained what the money was raised for.
“The money was raised for Boo Bash or items for door decorating winners,” she said.
The tournament was planned by Ms. Thevenin, Mr. Jarvis and the student council.
“The tournament went very well. Students and teachers were laughing and showing sportsmanship,” Thevenin said. “It did go the way I planned; however, I lost the game.”
Summer Rorrer watched the dodgeball tournament and thought it was fun.
”I liked watching from the outside and seeing who everyone was,” Rorrer said.
Rorrer explained there were some positive and negative experiences about this dodgeball tournament.
”For the positive everyone seemed to have fun, there were no fights, and for the negative, it was loud,” she said.
Rorrer explained if she would watch the tournament or not.
”I would watch it again because it was really entertaining,” she said.
Rorrer elaborated on playing in a future dodgeball tournament.
“Yes, but it depends on who I am playing with,” she said.
Joshua Rivera was a player in the dodgeball tournament who enjoyed playing.
“My friends asked me, so why not (play),“ Rivera said.
There were things he really enjoyed about the tournament.
“Getting together and playing and having fun,” he said.
Rivera said he would attend and play in the tournament again.
¨I think this tournament was a good idea," he said.
