Once the warm weather hits everyone wants to be outside, and what’s a better way to do that than go to an amusement park? From rollercoasters to water slides, there are endless possibilities of activities to do. Throughout the United States, there are over 400 different amusement parks but not all of them can be considered the best of the best. 

According to writers at attractionsofamerica.com, the top five amusement parks in the U.S. are Cedar Point, Walt Disney World, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Knoebels and Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure. 

Cedar Point is located in Sandusky, Ohio and opened in 1870, making it the second oldest theme park in the country. Altogether there are 16 roller coasters, with the newest one opening in May 2023. Every coaster gives riders an amazing view of Lake Erie, especially the four coasters that are over 200 feet tall. 

Walt Disney World is located in Orlando, Florida and opened in 1971, making it much newer than Cedar Point. Even though it is still a fairly new park, over the years they have made a lot of additions to the park. Some of these include Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios. All the different parks allow for multiple days of fun and excitement. 

Six Flags Magic Mountain is located in Valencia, California and opened in 1961. There are several different Six Flags amusement parks around the country, but California is by far the most exciting according to reviews. They have 40 different roller coasters and a one-of-a-kind Superman experience that cannot be found anywhere else.

Knoebels is located in Elysburg, Pennsylvania and opened in 1926. Unlike other amusement parks, Knoebels gives the option to pay per ride as well as an all-day pass. This gives people who only ride a few rides a cheaper option when visiting here. They have over 60 rides in total but only 2 are roller coasters. 

Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure is located in Orlando, Florida and opened in 1990. Similar to Walt Disney World, Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure has several different mini-theme parks inside the park. These mini-parks include themes from Harry Potter, Dr. Suess, Jurassic Park and more. While both parks are located in Orlando, Florida, this gives customers more options to choose from when it comes to amusement parks. 

All of these amusement parks have unique things to offer and there are many different options to choose from to spend time enjoying this summer.
