I believe the Dragon Age series is detailed, powerful, sometimes emotional and overall a very enjoyable game to play. Dragon Age lets you decide on your character and their story to some extent. You get to pick what gender you want to be, which impacts the kind of romances you can have.
You decide on what race you want to be, which is either human, elven, or dwarven. There are three games and in each game the race options change. In Dragon Age 2 you can only be human. In Dragon Age: Inquisition you can be human, Elvhenan, Dwarven, or of the Qunari. The Qunari are commonly described as white-haired metallic-skinned race of large humanoids. Your race has certain perks and also decides how your character will be treated in game. Chat options will vary as well as change, but it does not strongly impact the story line. However, race can impact the romances and relationships you can have.
Along with gender and race you also get to pick what class you would want to play, which is either warrior, rogue, or mage. Picking these will also affect your storyline, relationships and chat options depending on the class to some degree. Personally, I find the mage storyline more interesting because in the game mages are feared and not liked among most of the races, but more specifically humans. I find this aspect of the game series actually pretty awesome and unique.
As the story progresses you’ll make tons of decisions. You’ll make friends and enemies throughout the game and possibly a significant other if you choose for your character to have one. Overall the series has amazing narrative, character development, voice acting, universe and its rich history and lore, as well as the emphasis on player choices which shape the overall experience.
Dragon Age: Origins was released on November 3, 2009. Dragon Age 2 was released on March 8, 2011, and Dragon Age: Inquisition was released on November 18, 2014. The game company, Bioware, has been allegedly developing Dragon Age 4 since 2015 and recently more and more info has been released, stuff like teasers and trailers. Dragon Age fans hope it’ll come out soon which could possibly be in 2022.
I can’t wait to see which story will be next and if it’ll tie in with the previous storylines or if any past characters will make a reappearance. The data from your past games will transfer into the next game and affect the history, which is super cool because all of your choices affect every game at almost every point. I’m excited for the upcoming game as is every other fan most likely.
Bioware removed all possible job listings which could mean the development team could already be decided. But sadly, the game won’t be headed up by Dragon Age series Director Mike Laidlaw since in October 2017 he left Bioware after 14 years. Covid-19 has slowed down development and has made it harder, but they are still working. I can’t wait to see what Bioware does with Dragon Age because it truly is an amazing game with hours of gameplay to enjoy; I know I did.
