High school Senior Sarah Oskowski is running for student council president this year at Albert Einstein Academy. She joined the student council hoping to make school a fun and safe environment where people want to learn.
Oskowski was drawn to the spirit coordinator position to promote school spirit.
“I want to promote school spirit and improve the overall morale and attitude of the staff and students.” she said.
Oskowski wants to make the spirit coordinator position and student council president positions a more prominent role at Albert Einstein Academy.
“(I want to) let the council and officers plan more activities than before.” Oskowski said.
School spirit is very important to Sarah, and she wants to address students' concerns accordingly. She thinks being able to make a difference in the school is the main thing that should matter when joining student council, but also the sense of community that student council has. Oskowski hopes to get more staff involvement when it comes to school spirit.
“If staff doesn't show school spirit then why would the students want to,” she said. “The last two years have taken a toll on morale and spirit so I hope to improve that before I graduate.”
Sarah believes every student should feel safe every morning when walking into the building, and that's why she has taken the initiative to run for student council president.
