Dear All,
Thanks, as always, for all your support for ACMS. Here is what we've been up to this week!
We’re doing something new and exciting next week!
Our pupils asked for a chance to play pop music in a proper gig-style venue with great lighting, a brilliant sound system, and a proper stage, and we said yes! So, for the first time ever, we’ve booked King’s Church, Bridge of Don, a huge space with a huge stage, for our end-of-year concert….and it’s almost entirely pop!
It promises to be great fun and we’d love you to be part of it.
Bring your family, friends and neighbours - everyone is welcome!
📍 Wednesday 2 July at 6.30 pm | King’s Church, Bridge of Don
🎟 Free entry – no tickets required.
Huge congratulations to Calum, our ACMS Performer of the Year 2024/25!
Calum gave an exceptional upper school recital during this year’s performance exams, showcasing technical skill, musicality and flair. He’ll receive his trophy formally during the Summer Prom, where he’ll be back on stage playing electric guitar in our pop finale! ⚡🎶
Congratulations to James, our Junior Performer of the Year 2024/25!
James impressed with a beautifully delivered lower school recital in the end-of-year exams. We were thrilled to present him with the Junior trophy at the Dyce Academy Celebrating Success Awards last week. A fantastic achievement!
🎹 Dyce Academy Piano Fundraiser – Sponsor a Key
Dyce Academy has launched a ‘Sponsor a Key’ fundraising campaign to replace their much-loved electric grand piano in the main music studio. If you or someone you know would like to help, please visit the campaign page to find out more:
🎭 Collaboration with Dyce Academy Youth Theatre
On Wednesday evening, we were thrilled to collaborate with Dyce Academy Youth Theatre in their end-of-year showcase.
ACMS solo singers presented musical theatre repertoire, our vocal group joined forces with the Youth Theatre and Dyce choir for a Go the Distance/Defying Gravity medley, and the full cast, including instrumentalists, performed a showstopping finale of Sunshine on Leith.
It was a joyful and memorable evening: a brilliant example of collaboration, creativity, and new friendships being formed.
We’ve now invited the Youth Theatre and Dyce Academy Choir to join us again next Wednesday at King’s Church to perform these pieces as part of our Summer Prom. We’re looking forward to it!
📚 Library Books – Final Call
A message from Mrs Smith:
Thank you to everyone who has returned their library books and sheet music. If you have any items you’re not planning to use over the summer, please return them to the library by the end of this week.
🎶 Summer Schools - Still Time to Apply
In recent assemblies, we’ve been talking about the fantastic opportunities offered by musical summer schools.
They’re a great way to work with new tutors and professional musicians, make friends who share your passion for music, explore new cities, and perform to different audiences. Many still have places available for both young people and adults – if you have a free week over the holidays, we’d highly recommend it!
We’re thrilled that the Edinburgh International Festival is once again offering free ticket passes for young musicians this summer.
These passes provide an amazing opportunity to experience world-class performances across a range of genres....and for free!
Full details and sign-up information can be found here:
