Dear All,
As the nights draw in and the smell of mince pies starts to drift through the supermarkets, it’s lovely to pause and look back on what has been another busy, and creative week at ACMS.
Our pupils continue to throw themselves wholeheartedly into rehearsals, projects, and performances, and the results, as always, have been inspiring. From opera to art-themed weekends, couture made from gaffer tape, and French mélodies echoing through the corridors, there’s been no shortage of imagination or energy.
Thank you, as always, to our staff, parents, and pupils for the teamwork, enthusiasm, and good humour that make ACMS such a special community.
Let’s take a look at what’s been happening.....and what’s coming next!
🎶 Specialist Weekend 3
What a brilliant weekend we’ve had! Our pupils worked incredibly hard, whether in full ensemble rehearsals, small groups, or individual coaching/practice sessions. It’s exciting to see them leading, supporting, and inspiring each other.
Sunday’s dress-up theme was ‘Art’, and it did not disappoint! From walking masterpieces to living sculptures, the creativity (and commitment to costume) was outstanding. Huge thanks to everyone who joined in: the MPA has never looked so colourful!
👏 Congratulations, Douglas!
We’re absolutely thrilled to share that Douglas has been appointed Treble Choir Trainer of the St Andrew’s Cathedral Church Trebles Choir!
After a rigorous audition process, Douglas takes up the baton right away, leading rehearsals on Thursdays and Sundays, and conducting the choir for Sunday worship each week.
A talented conductor, singer, pianist, and viola player, Douglas brings a wealth of ACMS experience and enthusiasm to this exciting new chapter. We can’t wait to hear the wonderful music to come from St Andrew’s Cathedral. 🎼✨
👗 Alternative Fashion Night
Who knew ACMS harboured so many budding fashion designers? After early closing on Monday, pupils worked with old garments, scissors, gaffer tape, and sticky labels, and somehow created a full-blown runway of haute couture masterpieces!
The laughter, creativity, and teamwork on display were fantastic. Do take a look at the photos...they’re well worth a scroll. Paris Fashion Week, watch out!

☕ Parents’ Committee Evening
A big thank you to everyone who attended our Parents’ Committee Evening. It was wonderful to see such a full turnout, a strong reflection of the shared direction and teamwork between our pupils, parents, and staff.
The evening gave us a lovely opportunity to celebrate recent successes, share upcoming plans, and look ahead to some exciting projects on the horizon. We’re deeply grateful for the ongoing support, encouragement, and goodwill of our parent community...it makes all the difference.

🎭 Scottish Opera Project
Our principal-study singers have been hard at work in preparation for the next stage of our collaboration with Scottish Opera.
This week, pupils created a short dramatic presentation retelling the story of Idomeneo, complete with expressive acting, improvised props, and even a few sound effects! Their enthusiasm, research, and creativity were outstanding, and it’s been wonderful to see them embracing both the musical and theatrical sides of opera.
We are hugely grateful to the Scottish Opera team for continuing to offer such inspiring opportunities for our young performers, the pupils are learning so much from the experience.
Thank you for another wonderful week.
Have a fabulous weekend.
