Dear All,
It’s been the busiest of busy weeks here at ACMS as we geared up for our March Concert—our biggest showcase of the year!
Congratulations to everyone involved in a spectacular performance. Every day, we see the dedication, passion, and hard work of our pupils, tutors, staff, and carers, and it was a privilege to witness it all come together in such a stunning concert.
It was a particular thrill to sit in the audience and watch our pupils not only perform but also run their own show in a world-class concert venue. Every single performer rose to the occasion, and the support from the audience — parents, carers, academic teachers, family, friends, and ACMS supporters — was overwhelming.
It was wonderful to hear so many stories of people who had travelled from across the UK, Europe, and even the United States just to see our pupils perform. And what a performance it was! From start to finish, they captivated a packed Music Hall, with the audience cheering them on every step of the way. The standing ovation at the end—complete with calls for an encore—was a truly special moment. (Luckily, we had one prepared!)
Looking Forward
Next week, we turn our attention to the Aberdeen City Regional Final of the Scottish Young Musicians Junior and Senior Competitions. Best of luck to our junior finalists:
🎶 Aleina (voice), 🎶 Sophie (voice), 🎶 James (accordion), 🎶 Janine (piano)
They will be competing on Monday at 7 pm, followed by our senior finalists:
🎶 Freya (cello), 🎶 Katya (piano), 🎶 Amelia (violin) who take to the stage on Tuesday at 7 pm. Both finals will be held in the Cowdray Hall—if you’re free, do come along and support them!
As a bonus, some of our finalists have been invited to perform in a Finalists’ Concert on Thursday lunchtime (12:45–1:30 pm) at the Cowdray Hall. If you’re available, it would be fantastic to see you there.
Meanwhile, on Monday afternoon, our instrumental jazz quintet has been invited to perform at Robert Gordon University as part of the ‘Exchange Aberdeen’ event. This initiative explores how the North East can grow as a hub for innovation and investment, bringing together culture, business, academia, and local government. What an exciting opportunity—best of luck to our quintet!
Wishing you all a great weekend and week ahead!
