Dear All,
I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend. It has been another excellent week here at ACMS, and here’s a little look at what we have been up to.
German Language Recital
Huge congratulations to our wonderful vocal pupils who wowed the audience at last night’s German Language Recital! From the rich beauty of Lieder to the drama of German opera and oratorio, every performance was a real treat for the ears, full of great ability, passion and commitment on stage.
A big thank you to Dr Milne for the superb coaching and preparation, to Mrs Kyle for her exquisite accompanying, and to the Drama department for kindly sharing their space with us.
Bravi tutti!
Exams
Exam study leave began this week. I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting with our S4, S5 and S6 pupils to discuss academic commitments, their personal academic goals, and their ACMS engagement for study leave.
Our pupils seem excited and confident about the exam period, and it is a pleasure to see them managing their time so well, both in and out of ACMS.
We wish them the very best of luck with their exams and, as always, all staff are here to help with any queries or advice they may need during this period and beyond.
Practice and Concert Preparations
The extended period of study leave for our S4 to S6 pupils gives us a wonderful opportunity to work closely with our S1, S2 and S3 pupils on practice technique, technical development, repertoire, and performance skills.
It has been a pleasure to see such fantastic engagement from our younger pupils and to support their eagerness to develop.
Future concert sign-up sheets are now up on the board. We encourage as many of our younger pupils as possible to get involved and enjoy preparing for these public performances.
Theory
Congratulations to Chloe, who joins our growing, informal and very cheerful 100% Club, having achieved full marks in her recent Grade 5 Theory specimen paper.
As part of our theory course, pupils complete multiple specimen papers for each grade to consolidate their learning. Before moving onto the next grade or level, we aim for pupils to achieve regularly at least 93% consistently, ensuring and demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of every topic. Occasionally, pupils hit the 100% mark which is a fun moment to celebrate!
Bass Guitar Donation
We are very grateful for the donation of a bass guitar, which has already been put to excellent and regular use by one of our S2 pupils!
Non-Teaching Week
Just a little reminder that the week commencing Monday 5 May will begin with a holiday day, and the entire week will be a non-teaching week for ACMS.
Music Books Donation
Thank you also for the generous donation of violin and piano sheet music to our music library. Mrs Smith is very excited to delve into this new treasure trove of repertoire!
Thank you all once again for your continued energy, enthusiasm and commitment. I hope you have a lovely weekend.
