It’s been a week filled with external concerts and festive celebrations - here’s a look at what we’ve been up to!
Thank you to all our staff, pupils, parents, and supporters for the incredible effort that goes into everything we do.
Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead!
A huge well done to all our pupils for three fantastic evenings of music-making at the Beach Ballroom this week!
Monday night's rehearsal was a challenging one with a tight rehearsal schedule and lots of performers and pieces to be rehearsed. Our pupils displayed outstanding professionalism, both in their conduct and their performances.
On Tuesday, the first concert went beautifully. After a brief moment of celebration after the performance, the pupils demonstrated incredible maturity by immediately analysing their performance and suggesting improvements. Their focus and dedication to achieving the best results were inspiring.
Their hard work paid off - the Wednesday night performance was even better, with improved accuracy, timing, engagement, and communication. This progress was largely driven by the pupils themselves, showcasing their development in musicianship and teamwork.
Well done to those involved in the finale performances of The Rose of Kelvin Grove, beautifully arranged by Alan Haggart. Coordinating a large group of pupils (with different line-ups on both nights) is no small task, but our ACMS pupils seamlessly blended in, and supported each other and delivered a wonderful performance.
Congratulations to everyone involved, and a huge thank you to the staff who helped make it happen!
Thursday evening’s ACMS Christmas Dinner was a resounding success! The Boarding team kindly hosted a festive evening filled with great food from the catering team, surprise desserts, and plenty of crackers, gifts, snacks, and drinks.
A big thank you to Jacqui and the Boarding staff for their hard work in making the evening so special, and to Alison and Karen for the delicious food. It was a wonderful way to mark the festive season!
Reminder for Seniors: The deadline for applications is today - please make sure to submit yours!
Juniors: You have a bit more time, with the deadline now set for Friday, 24th January.
Brava to Freya for her stunning performance on Sunday at the Fife Arms in Braemar as part of their Classical Candlelight Strings series. This was a fantastic opportunity for her to showcase a variety of styles in a high-profile setting. We’re delighted that she’s been invited back to perform again on Sunday, 22nd December.
Lewis will also be returning to the Fife Arms after his brilliant performance opening this year’s series. He’ll be performing again this coming Sunday, 15th December.
🌟 Congratulations to both Freya and Lewis! 🌟
We’re excited to announce that Aberdeen City Music School’s first Open Morning will take place on Sunday, 2nd February 2025. More details can be found HERE.

On Thursday, I had the pleasure of attending the Dyce Academy Music Concert. The evening was filled with fantastic festive performances, and it was lovely to spot a few ACMS faces on stage and supporting in the audience.
Congratulations to the Dyce Academy music department for organising such a brilliant event!
🎁 Our Secret Santa event will take place on Thursday evening between dinner and the concert. Please wear your Christmassy-est outfits and bring your singing voices!
The final week of term is, as you can imagine, another busy one!
