Dear all,
You don't hear this from us very often, but it has been a relatively quiet week here at ACMS. We hope that everyone enjoyed a restful bank holiday weekend and made the most of some of the fine weather.
Tuesday was a day off for most pupils as Dyce Academy held a staff INSET day. Meanwhile, some of our senior pupils have continued with their public examinations, while our S1 to S3 pupils have been busy enjoying Activities Week.
Despite the quieter atmosphere, there has still been a steady trickle of musicians coming into ACMS to practise, rehearse and study. Boarding has remained open throughout the latter part of the week, and it has been lovely to see pupils in such good spirits.
All lessons, ensembles, assemblies and activities will resume as normal from Monday.
Willow and Taylor enjoyed a fun day in the centre of Aberdeen, taking bagpipes, whistle, and electric piano out into the city to entertain the public. It was lovely hearing them reflect afterwards on the experience, what they had learned, and what they might do differently next time they perform together. Most importantly of all, they had a great deal of fun and would highly recommend the experience to others.
A little reminder that our next Specialist Weekend will take place on Friday 15 May (Session 1) and Sunday 17 May (Session 2).
We will be using the weekend to rehearse repertoire for our busy concert schedule at the end of May and throughout June, whilst also taking a musical peek into some of the exciting music we will be performing immediately after the summer holidays.
As always, the Specialist Weekend will be followed by an early close at 7.00 pm on Monday 18 May.
Thank you for reading what may well be the shortest edition of The Shout in ACMS history!
We look forward to welcoming everyone back after what we hope has been a restful week filled with activities, revision, practice and, hopefully, successful exam experiences.
Have a wonderful weekend.
KK
