Welcome to another fun-packed week at ACMS!
As we head towards the final stretch of term, there’s definitely a gentle rustle of festive excitement in the air mixed, of course, with the usual whirlwind of rehearsals, lessons, mock exams and concerts. Thank you, as always, for your support and good humour as we navigate this wonderfully busy time of year.
Specialist Weekend 4
It felt as though Christmas arrived a little early during our Specialist Weekend 4. We achieved an impressive amount of work...and had enormous fun in the process. It was particularly delightful to see so many pupils fully embracing the ‘sports’ dress-up theme. From football tops to running gear… and yes, someone did indeed bring skis! The enthusiasm for these themes continues to amaze and entertain us.
Christmas Concerts - Seats Now Full
Both of our Christmas Concerts in the MPA on 17th and 18th December are now fully booked, and the online form has been closed.
If you would like to be added to the waiting list, please email:

Early Closing - Thursday 11th December
Due to an exceptionally busy week of events ( including three evenings out on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) ACMS will close at 5 pm on Thursday 11th December.
Boarders: should have dinner and return to Boarding.
Day pupils: should head home after 5 pm.
ACMS pupils involved in the Dyce Academy Christmas Concert: please have dinner at school and stay on for the performance.
If you have any questions, please do get in touch.
S4 Mock Exams
We want to take a moment to celebrate our S4 pupils, who are managing two demanding weeks of mock exams alongside their ACMS commitments. Their maturity, organisation and resilience have been impressive.
We wish them all the very best of luck as the final few exams approach.
Scottish Opera Weekend Away
Our first-study singers are heading off again this weekend to work with Scottish Opera. They will take part in rehearsals with members of the company and perform in solo masterclasses throughout the day.
We remain deeply grateful for our strong relationship with Scottish Opera, whose generosity and expertise continue to provide our vocalists with extraordinary learning opportunities - from inspiring workshops to world-class performances. These experiences are instrumental in shaping the next generation of confident, expressive young singers.
Change of French Concert Date
As you’ll remember, our French Language Concert had to be postponed due to the mains water disruption at Dyce a couple of weeks ago.
We have now decided to combine the French concert with our already-scheduled Italian Language Recital, creating a single evening of beautiful French and Italian repertoire.
📅 New combined date: Tuesday 17th February, 6:30 pm
🎶 Expect elegance, drama, and a lot of expressive vowels.
Aberdeen City Orchestra Youth Ensemble
Very best of luck to Douglas, Freyja, Isabelle, Alaina and Sophia, who have been working hard during their Wednesday evening rehearsals.
They will be performing on:
📅 Friday 5th December
⏰ 7 pm
📍 Fountain Hall Church at the Stocket
The programme includes:
Mozart - Symphony No. 40
Fanny Mendelssohn - Overture in C major
A fantastic evening awaits... perfect for both orchestral enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
Swingin’ Christmas at the Cowdray Hall
Looking slightly ahead, if you’re free on Friday 12th December at 7:30 pm, two of our wonderful tutors, Neil Birse and Matthew Kilner, will be performing festive favourites with a jazzy twist at the Cowdray Hall.
🎟️ Tickets: £16 / £12
A lovely way to begin easing into the holiday spirit.
Thank you to all for a wonderful week.
Have a fantastic weekend.
