Our Week in 4K

October 9-13, 2023

Monday:

*Our color this week is green, our shape is a square, and the Word of the Week is “in.”   *We read the book Who Lives In Trees? by Trish Holland.  *This week in small groups we are practicing correct pencil/crayon grip, taking turns to play games, and are using binoculars to look for animals that are in our “forest.”   


Tuesday:

  *We identified tree words on our theme board.  *We did our first science experiment called bubble beards.  Check my backpack for some of the supplies needed to try the experiment at home!  *We read our Scholastic magazine about fall.


Thursday :

*Conference Night  *We identified animals that live in trees and the homes that they make.  *We read Aw, Nuts! by Rob McClurkan.  Ask me what happened to Squirel’s acorns.


Friday:

*We used pictures of real trees to help identify healthy vs unhealthy trees.  We also discussed what caused some of the trees to become unhealthy  *We reread Aw, Nuts! by Rob McClurkan.   *During our social lesson we were introduced to The Zones of Regulation and identified the different feelings that fit into the blue zone.  Feelings in the blue zone include: sad, tired, disappointed, shy, and sick.  *A real firefighter came to school to talk to us about fire safety!

     

Next Week:

We will be learning about the color brown and the shape rhombus.  Wear brown on Monday, October 16th.  There is no school on Friday, Oct. 20th.
