In case of warranty request, below questions and/or pictures are mandatory:
- ask for a picture of the installation/pump (so we can see if it was installed correctly)
- XXXXX
Please ask customer to try and deblock the pump with the help of youtube video's
If deblocking does not work, this is not considered warranty:
Information about a seized DAB EVOSTA circulation pump
It is not uncommon for a circulation pump to fail to start after an extended period of inactivity. This can be caused by a build-up of dirt and limescale inside the pump, which can cause the impeller to become stuck.
This issue may occur when a heating system has not been used for an extended period. Deposits of dirt and limescale can prevent the impeller from rotating freely, causing the pump to stop functioning.
Why is the pump not routinely inspected by the manufacturer?
With this type of fault, there is generally no visible damage to the motor or electronic control unit. Upon inspection, it is usually only possible to establish that the impeller is mechanically blocked due to deposits of dirt and limescale.
As this is generally the result of prolonged inactivity and the accumulation of deposits inside the pump, there is no direct indication of a manufacturing or material defect. For this reason, pumps reported with this specific issue are not routinely accepted by the manufacturer for assessment.
Warranty
A blockage caused by deposits of dirt and limescale following an extended period of inactivity is considered an external cause rather than a manufacturing defect. Such damage is therefore, in principle, not covered by the manufacturer's warranty, subject to the applicable warranty terms and conditions.
We recommend running the heating system regularly and periodically checking the system during extended periods of inactivity. This can help prevent the impeller from becoming stuck.
The DAB Evosta pump should always turn on when connected right. At least the LEDs in the display should light up.
If this is not happening, the cable was probably not connected right.
If the 3-phase wire is connected the right way (neutral, live wire and protective earth) and the pump is still not working, it could be possible that the three pins in the Evosta connector are bent. This prevents the completion of the electrical circuit.
Disconnect the cable from the power outlet and carefully try to bend straight the three pins inside the connector.
A grinding noise will probably mean there is still air trapped inside the pump or the pipes.
The pump is vented automatically through the system. It is not necessary to vent the pump before starting. Noise may be created due to the presence of air in the pump; if this happens, the noise stops after a few minutes.
By selecting speed 3 for a short time, rapid venting of the pump is obtained. The venting speed depends on the dimensions and design of the system. Once the pump has been vented, or when the noise has stopped, set the pump according to the recommendations.
Clean water
Please note that a circulation pump should only be used with clean water (max. 30% glycol). Sand or other dirt will gather in the pump and will also cause a grinding noise. If this persists for too long, the pump might be damaged and will stop working eventually.
