Class of 2004

Kyle Bishop earned a MS in Clinical Community Counseling from Johns Hopkins University in 2007 and a EdD in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University in 2013. Kyle went on to earn an MBA from UMUC in Business Administration in 2015.  She is a senior vice president for behavioral health and substance use at Children's Home Society of Florida.

Deirdre Bulger earned a MS in Leadership & Organizational Development from Fresno Pacific University in 2010. She has served in a variety of program roles including director of quality advancement at Compass, Inc. and program director of disABILITY Employment for Easterseals (recruiting Vera Damanka '17 as part of her team there). She is currently a contract specialist at NAVAIR.  

Joshua Chiapelli earned a MD from Drexel University College of Medicine in 2008, and completed his psychiatry residency at University of Maryland/Shepard Pratt in 2012. He is an assistant professor of psychiatry at UMD School of Medicine. His research interests include schizophrenia, stress pathophysiology, and magnetic resonance spectroscopy. 

Katherine Clark earned a MS in Environmental Policy and Natural Resource Management from University of Denver in 2013, and a graduate certificate in Energy and Sustatinability from DU in 2014. She is a stormwater management post-construction enforcement supervisor at Philadelphia Water Department.

Katie Daly earned a MA in Counseling Psychology from University of Missouri-Columbia in 2006 and a PhD in Counseling Psychology from University of Florida in 2011. She is the Director of Counseling & Wellness Services and Assistant Professor of Clinical Sciences at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine.

Eric Hadhazy earned a MS in Biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University in 2009. He is the director of critical care quality & strategic initiative for Stanford Health Care.

Jordan Knicely earned a MS in Psychology at Lehigh University in 2010. He is a senior staff assistant at University of Abany, SUNY, and an admissions technology coordinator for Vassar College.

Jennifer (Garger) Kuhn earned a MS in Applied Psychology with concentration in I/O Psychology from University of Baltimore in 2008. She is a contract officer and specialist for Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Jacquelyn (Landone) Dunne earned a MAM (Business) from College of Notre Dame of Maryland in 2011. She is a contracting officer for Army Contacting Command.

Benaiah Lee entered the teaching field after a 2 year stint in the business world because he wanted to find a way to put his degree to work helping people. He earned a MAT in Elementary Education from Johns Hopkins University in 2008 ,and is now a fifth grade teacher for Howard County (MD) Public Schools. 

Jason Straub earned a MSW with focus in Mental Health Counseling from UMD School of Social Work in 2010. He is a programmer analyst + social worker for The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. 

Heather Wasson is a senior cruise consultant for The Cruise Web.

Rachael (Wilder) Barnoski earned a MA in Forensic Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2009. She is a lead cost analyst for NAVAIR.

Class of 2003

Cara (Constantini) Detwiler earned a MA in Leadership in Elementary Mathematics from Notre Dame of Maryland University in 2013. She is a fifth grade language arts/social studies teacher for Baltimore County Public Schools.

Kristen (Grabill) Benito earned a PhD in Clinical Psychology from University of Florida in 2010. She is a staff psychologist at Rhode Island Hospital and Bradley Hospital as well as an associate research professor of psychiatry and human behavior at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.  She is the principal investigator of a federally funded study testing a practical measure of treatment quality in exposure therapy, and the co-principal investigator on a federally funded study testing methods of training community therapists to deliver exposure therapy. 

Ibrahim Gba-Kamara earned a BA in Paralegal Studies from Roger Williams University in 2011, and MA in Healthcare Administration at University of Maryland University College in 2017. He has served in the Navy for 16+ years and is currently stationed in Naples, Italy as leading chief petty officer for their EURAFSWA office and a defense paralegal. 

Brian Jobe remained at SMCM to work as a research associate collaborating with Dr. Laraine Glidden's Project Parenting for two years following graduation. While pursuing a PhD in Human Services Psychology at UMBC, he worked at the Domestic Violence Center of Howard County as a clinical staff member of the New Behaviors Program for Men. There he supervised the intake assessment and referral process, maintains regular contact with the court and probation departments, conducts group and individual therapy with clients, and manages the day-to-day operations of the program. Also, as part of his job there he got to oversee graduate students at one of their first clinical placements. He completed his PhD in 2014 and is now staff psychologist at Kennedy Krieger Institute.

Julia G. Kurish earned a MA in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY, in 2006.

Jennifer (Lee) Fornaro earned an EdS at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2017.

Emily Lawrence earned a MS in Recreation & Leisure Studies at UNC Chapel Hill in 2006. She is a therapeutic recreation coordinator for the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.

Katie (Miller) Williams earned a MSW (Management & Community Organization/Clinical Minor) from UMD Social Work in 2005, and was PMP certified in 2011. She is a project management office director at Community Science in Frederick, MD.

Keisha McGeachy earned a MSW from University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2008. She is a community support coordinator for The ARC of Prince George's County.

Chad Marcantonio joined the Peace Corps after graduation and worked as a translator for medical doctors in East Timor in Martime South Asia. Once returning stateside, he earned a certificate of completion from the Georgetown Post-baccalaureate Premedical Program in 2007, and an MD from Georgetown Medical School in 2012. He is an ophthalmology resident at Georgetown University Hospital.

Penny Martin earned a MEd from McDaniel College in 2018. She is a registrar for  Calvert County Public Schools at Northern High School. 

Noelle (Reeder) Hickok earned a BA in Gastronomy from University of Adelaide in 2005, and a MA in Education (Early Childhood and Elementary Education) from Johns Hopkins University in 2008. She was a teacher for Baltimore City Public Schools for several years before relocating to FL and becoming a stay at home parent for her four children.

Thomas Sherman earned a MEd (Counseling and Human Services) from Lehigh University in 2005 and a PhD in Counselor Education from University of Virginia in 2011. He is a LMHC in Washington State (previously LPC in VA, LMHC in MD). He is manager of workforce management at Anthem, Inc. in the greater Seattle area and a contributing faculty member for Capella and Walden Universities for their clinical mental health programs.

Angela (Trinidad) Draheim has been employed at SMCM since 2004; she is the academic program support coordinator and departmental web specialist for the psychology department.

Alexa Webb is a blogger and influencer based in Baltimore.

Elizabeth Weiler earned a BSN from University of Calgary (Canada). She is a registered nurse for Positive Health Services in BC.

Class of 2002

Rebecca Anderson earned a MS and then a PhD in I/O Psychology at the Institute of Psychology at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago in 2009 and 2017 respectively. She is a manager in  human capital (organizational transformation) for Deloitte Consulting in the Greater Chicago area.

Chris Abell is owner & certified personal trainer of Hamr & Hugr, executive director at Carroll Technology & Innovation Council, and co-founder of Maryland Apprenticeship Connector.

Kimberly Gurski Myers earned a BS in International Trade Management with emphasis on trade compliance from Dunlap Stone University. She is a client success manager at Chain.io.

Julie Bederka Hamilton earned a MEd in School Counseling from Loyola University of MD in 2005. In 2010, after 5 years, she left the position of a  director of business development for CBH Health, LLC.

Jennifer Horn earned a MSW from Temple University in 2007, and an MBA in Management & Planning from the University of Phoenix in 2009. She is judicial program analyst for the Office of Children and Families in the Courts within the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts. 

Erin Howard earned a PhD in Counseling Psychology from Lehigh University in 2008,  and completed a fellowship in clinical psychology at UC Davis Medical Center in 2009. A licensed psychologist in North Carolina since 2009, she is a clinical psychologist at Duke Raleigh Hospital and assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University School of Medicine. 

Angelena (Lindsley) Robinson pursued some graduate studies in social work at the University of Maryland and later earned a BFA in Interior Design from the International Academy of Design and Technology in 2007. She is a senior project designer for BOS, a Haworth furniture dealership company that provides workspace solutions for companies of all sizes in North America and beyond. 

Jared LeClerc was a Peace Corps volunteer in Mali, West Africa for a little over two years post-graduation. He earned a PhD in cognitive psychology from the University of Washington in 2014. He is a user researcher for Microsoft Corporation in the Greater Seattle area.

Nicole Little earned a DVM from Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. She is a veterinarian for Banfield Pet Hospital in the Portland Area.

Kelly O'Brien completed a doctoral internship at UNC-Chapel Hill (September 2006-September 2007) and then earned a PhD in Clinical Psychology (child track) from the University of Florida in May 2008. She is a psychologist for Alvord Baker & Associates, LLC, in the Rockville, MD area. She is also a research consultant. Recent projects include helping with the examination of an integrated treatment for mothers of children with ADHD and maternal stress/depression, an early intervention for families of young children with with behavioral inhibition/anxiety, and the addition of emotion regulation coaching skills standard to Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). 

Jacyln (Pinkham) Thompson is a customer service representative for Comprint Printing.

Wendy (Povistsky) Stickle earned a MA and PhD in Criminology and Criminal Justice from UMCP in 2005 & 2009 respectively. She is the program director for the University of Maryland College Park Criminology and Criminal Justice Program at Shady Grove as well as a member at-large (former chair and vic-chair) on the Montgomery County Criminal Justice Coordinating Commission. 

Kerry (Walls) Tyler earned a MSS in Social Work from Bryn Mawr College in 2006. She is a social worker for Temple University Health System.

Jeff Vietri earned a PhD in Psychology from Rutgers University in 2009. He is the director of health economics & outcomes research  for Pfizer.

Derek Young '02 earned a MEd in Counseling Psychology from The Johns Hopkins University in 2007. He is the executive director of student life at SMCM.

Class of 2001

Loretta Collins  earned a MA in Secondary Education (ESOL concentration) from the George Washington University in 2008, and a MS in Soil and Watershed Science from UMD College of Agriculture & Natural Resources in December 2014. She is a faculty extension assistant for the Environmental Science and Technology Agricultural Nutrient Management Program at UMD College of Agriculture & Natural Resources. Loretta also serves as the agriculture technical workgroup coordinator for the Soil Science Society of America.

Robert Friesel was a senior user interface developer for Dealer.com (a Dealertrack Technologies solution) 2013-2019, and is currently looking for a new adventure. He is married to psyc alumna Amy Chess '00.

Bridgett Jean (Harsh) Milner earned a PhD in Psychology from Indiana University in 2007.  Since 2013, she has been the senior associate director of strategic planning and research for Indiana University Bloomington. Prior to that she spent two years as a research psychologist for the Central Intelligence Agency.

Lauren Hess earned a PhD in Clinical Psychology from University of Louisville in 2012. She is a clinical psychologist for Butler (PA) VA Healthcare.

Crista Kostenko earned a MS in Art Therapy from The George Washington University in 2008. She is an registered art therapist independent contractor and an independent art therapist working with children, adolescents, adults, seniors, and families in the DC Metro area.

Scott Leary earned a PhD in Social Psychology from UMD in 2009. He is a social scientist for the Internal Revenue Service.

Jennifer (Menard) Marsh  earned a MS in I/O Psychology from North Central University in 2014.   The behavioral neuroscience lab coordinator for the psychology department and an adjunct instructor for PSYC and CORE classes, Jenn has been employed at SMCM since 2001. 

Jean Milstein earned a PhD in Experimental Psychology from University of Cambridge/ NIH in 2008. She is a post-doctoral fellow at University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Aaron Norton earned a MA in Psychology from University of California, Davis in 2007, and a PhD in Psychology from the same institution in 2014. He is a member of the core faculty for the School of Consciousness and Transformation at the California Institute of Integral Studies.

Katie (Sutton) Burkhouse earned a PhD in School Psychology from University of Maryland in 2012. She is a school psychologist for Howard County (MD) Public Schools.

Class of 2000

Amy Chess earned a MA in Experimental Psychology from University of Vermont in 2004, and a PhD in Psychology (Behavioral Neuroscience) from Dartmouth College in 2007. She is a senior manager of design research at Walmart.  Amy and her husband, psyc alum Robert Friesel '01, live in Seattle, WA.

Michelle (Donlon) Nutini completed coursework in TESOL at School of International Training in 2001, and earned a MEd in Elementary and Special Education from Chestnut Hill College in 2009. She earned a EdD in educational Leadership and Management with a concentration in Special Education Leadership in 2019. She is an autistic support coordinator and K-5 autistic support teacher for the school district of Philadelphia.

Crystal R. Harris earned a MSW from UMD School of Social Work in 2004. She is a DRU Judy Center Coordinator for Baltimore City Public Schools.

Prince Inniss was a housing choice voucher coordinator for the family self-sufficiency program of Housing Authority City of Frederick at the time of his passing in June 2019.

Lisa Jones earned a MEd in Elementary Education from Towson University in 2010. She is a director of shipboard education for Living Classrooms Foundation and a senior manager of communications & outreach for the Maryland Department of the Environment. Lisa is also a part-time instructor at earth Treks Climbing Center in Baltimore, MD.

Keri McCumber is a compensation consultant at Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Janeen Norvell-Rao earned a MSW in Clinical Mental Health from MD School of Social Work in 2005. She is a licensed clinical social worker/registered play therapist at Behavioral Health Partners for Sheppard Pratt System.

David Ryden earned a JD from University of Richmond, T.C. Williams School of Law in 2003. He is an assistant attorney general for the Maryland Office of the Attorney General.
