Class of 2009

Angela (Baker) Norwich earned a MBA (Consulting in Strategic Management) from UMD Robert H. Smith School of Business in 2013.  She is a client executive for Federal Systems Integrators at NetApp in the Washington, DC - Baltimore area.

Rob Blackwell is a naval aviator in the US Navy currently stationed in Jacksonville, FL, and studying at the U.S. Naval War College. He has recently picked up operational command and will work towards being commanding officer of a helicopter squadron. Rob is married to Rachel Johns '08. They have two children together. Rob says, "The psych-specific information has admittedly not impacted much in my career, but the drive to understand how things work, and the ability to approach one problem (or person) from a variety of perspectives has gotten me where I am today."

Jill Bradley earned a MSW (Management and Community Organization) from UMD School of Social Work in 2014. A LMSW, she is a family stability case manager for United Way of Central Maryland.

Katie (Cain) Zuke earned a MPH in Community Health Education from CUNY Hunter School of Public Health in 2013. She is a senior program manager at National Council on Aging.

Jacqueline Caminiti is a senior marketing associate at Northwestern Mutual.

Jessica (Clark) Grimes earned a MAT at SMCM in 2010. She is a first grade teacher for Wicomico County Public Schools.

Maya Cosentino earned a MD from Universitat Witten/Herdecke (Uni WH) in Germany in 2012. She is child and adolescent psychiatry deputy attending physician at Universitare Psychiatrishe Dienste Bern in Switzerland. She is a Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Affiliate at Stanford University, and a postgraduate Global Health Policy student at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) with an expected graduation in 2024. Throughout medical school Maya supported the development of her school’s integrative medicine curriculum and was and continues to be an active advocate of new ways in health care.

Erika (Delanoy) Flax earned a MSW at The University of Texas at Austin in 2011. A LCSW, she is a therapist at Beckner Counseling in VA.

Heather DeMarr earned a MS in Applied Behavior Analysis from the Florida Institute of Technology in 2012. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst at Child Development Assessments and Therapies, LLC in VA.

Justin Eid earned a MHA (Mentoring Human Action) Certification. He owns and operates a lawn and garden care business.

Valerie Freund earned a MA in Psychometrics and Quantitative Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University in 2014. She is pursuing a PhD in Developmental Psychology at the University of Michigan.

Hannah Fegley earned a MSW from Smith College School for Social Work in 2013. She is a clinician and program manager for Johns Hopkins Student Assistance Program, providing therapy services for graduate students and their families, including intake, treatment planning, therapy, and case management. 

Emily Gibson earned a MS in Community Mental Health Counseling from McDaniel College in 2012. She is a performance consultant for BHS.

Joanna (Gibson) Bobbit earned a MA in Elementary Education and Teaching from Trinity Washington University in 2011, and a DPT from Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences in 2023. She is a physical therapist at Park Nicollet Health Services in MN. She spent some time as a circus artist and offering afterschool classes in aerial and ground-based acrobatics. 

Tashia Graham is a human resources manager at National Consumer Law Center in the greater Boston area.

Ellie Gutowski spent 3 years as a community health agent for HIV/AIDS with the Peace Corps and served in the Southeastern African countries of Niger and Malawi. She earned a MA  in Counseling Psychology from Boston College in 2017, and expects to earn her PhD in the same field at Boston College in 2019. She was the  2019 recipient of the Larry J. Siegel Graduate Fellowship for Victimology Studies to support project entitled "Coercive control in the courtroom: Litigation abuse and its correlates".  She is a clinical fellow at Harvard Medical School.

Makeyda (Hilliard) Soriano earned a MS in School Counseling at Trinity Washington University in 2013, and is pursuing Admin 1 Certification from McDaniel College with an expected completion in 2024. In June 2023, Makeyda was recognized as the 2023 Secondary High School Counselor of the Year for Montgomery County Public Schools (MD). She is the resource school counselor at Montgomery Blair High School where she supervises the counseling department at the largest-enrolled school in MD.

Michele Hughes earned a MA/CAS in School Psychology from Towson University in 2013. She is a nationally certified school psychologist at Bardonia Elementary School in NY.

Michelle (Kempf) Reuschling is the youth programs coordinator at Farmington Country Club.

Katie (Klotz) Anderson earned a BSN from Georgetown University in 2014, and completed coursework towards a MSN/FNP (MS in Nursing-Family Nurse Practitioner) from The Georgetown University. She is an RN at Inova Alexandria Hospital.

Catherine 'Kay' Lamar earned a MA in Social Psychology and Evaluation from Claremont Graduate University in 2012.  She is an assistant professor of psychology at Pasadena City College. 

Kayla Mangen earned a MS in Mental Health Counseling from The Johns Hopkins University in 2012. She is a licensed clinical professional counselor at Congruent Counseling Services.

Christa McAllister earned a MEd in School Counseling from Loyola College of Maryland in 2015. She is an administrative assistant at Maine Correctional Center.

Kat (Nehez) Woodruff earned a BSN from The University of Texas at Arlington in 2013, and an MSN in Nursing Education from the same institution in 2017. She is an ICU Trauma nurse clinician at JPS Health Network in Fort Worth, Texas.

Jennifer "Niki" Novak earned a MS in Clinical and Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from Chestnut Hill College in 2011. She is currently a licensed marriage and family therapist at DC Counseling and Psychotherapy. She is married to Seth LaShier (09' History) and they live in Washington, D.C. with their French bull dog (Lucy) and cat (Comer).  

Marie (Oben) Derrick earned a MS in Kinesiology (Cognitive Motor Neuroscience) at UMCP in 2011. She finished Physician Assistant School (a joint program between Anne Arundel Community College and UMB) in the summer of 2016. She is a physician assistant in the ER at Union Memorial Hospital.  

Jerilyn (Rogalski) van Heerden was in several positions but most recently a business development manager for Taste Greece in Auckland, New Zealand, before becoming a stay at home mom in 2021.

Lauren (Cook) Payne earned a MS in Educational Leadership with concentration in Higher Education from University of North Dakota in 2014. She is an associate director of student success for the School of Information Technology at Purdue University Global.

Evan Polisar worked for Rep. Alcee L. Hastings of the United States House of Representatives for just under 8 years, serving in multiple roles. He started as a legislative assistant and press secretary, progressed to communications director and senior legislative assistant, and in his last role was senior legislative assistant and rules committee associate. He is now the director of public affairs at General Atomics in the San Diego, CA area.

Samantha (Ortiz) Salerno earned a MSW (Clinical Mental Health) from University of MD - School of Social Work in 2011. She is a LCSW at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center in MD.

Nathaniel Schwalje completed a degree in Electronic Engineering Technology from Anne Arundel Community College in 2010. He is a field service engineer for Siemens Healthcare.

Jori Sapper earned a MAT from SMCM in 2010. She is the admissions director and lower-school team leader at Westminster School, Annandale, Virginia.

Emily (Smithson) Moore earned a MEd in School Psychology from James Madison University in 2010, and a EdS in that field from the same institution in 2012. She is a school psychologist for Dorchester County Public Schools.

Alana (Slater) Sage earned a MS in human resources management/personnel administration from University of Maryland Global Campus in 2014. She is a senior manager of compensation, recognition & rewards at Amtrak in the Washington, D.C. area.

Jennifer (Slomski) Tress is a department manager for network analysis (previously data analytics lead and then principal data scientist) at MITRE, an information technology and services company in VA.

Dave Traher is a retirement plan services (RPS) trading associate analyst at T. Rowe Price and pricing and trading associate at Fis Global.

Katie (Soleo) Soderburg is a project support specialist at Sabre Systems, Inc.

Drew Solyst earned a PhD in Neuroscience from Emory University in 2014. He is a Quantitative UX Researcher at Google in Texas.

Judy Songrady Logan moved to Hungary in 2013 to study veterinary science at Szent István Egyetem - SZIE. She decided to withdraw from the program and is self-employed as a private English  tutor and veterinary anatomy tutor. She is married to Trevor Logan '09 (a bio major) who was also in the veterinary program but is now pursuing a PhD in Neuroscience at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.

Marian Stukes earned a MS in Clinical Counseling at Johns Hopkins University in 2012.  A Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Certified Anger Management Specialist (CAMS-II), Marian opened a private practice, Flames of Change Counseling, LLC, in 2018.  Flames of Change Counseling offered anger management programs for adults seeking to tame their anger's flames. In June 2019, Marian graduated from the Iylana Vansant Life Coach Program of the Inner Visions Institute for Spiritual Development and transitioned to her new career of being a spiritual life coach.  She began a new venture in June 2023, and now offers wedding officiant services (LGBTQ+ friendly) in MD through Exalted Love Ceremonies. 

David Traher  is a retirement plan services (RPS) trading associate analyst at T. Rowe Price and pricing and trading associate at FIS Global.

Melodi Wilkie earned a MA in Clinical Psychology from Towson University in 2011. A LCPC, she is a coordinator of adult services at Key Point Health Services, Inc.

Gina (White) Sheets earned a MS in Teaching and Learning (PreK-4) at Drexel University in 2016. She is a preschool teacher at A Small World, Inc.

Josh Whitt earned a PhD in Neuroscience from University of Maryland Baltimore in 2016. He is a senior scientist in translational research at  Flexion Therapeutics in MA. 

Victoria "Tori" (Whitlow) Lyness earned a MD at UMD School of Medicine in 2013. She is a general surgery resident for Virginia Commonwealth University Health System.

Cecilia Whitman-Saunders earned a MAT from SMCM in 2010. She is the IB coordinator at Woodmoor Elementary Magnet School in Baltimore.
