Jordan Bailey '22 is a clinical research coordinator in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Program for the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children's National Hospital.


Drew Sonnenberg '22 is pursuing a MA in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at Towson University part-time with an expected graduation in 2025. He is currently working at SMCM as a lab manager supported by Dr. Freedman's National Science Foundation grant and as a department assistant for the Department of Psychology.

India Oates '21 is a human research technologist at Penn State University's Empathy and Moral Psychology Laboratory. She will pursue a PsyD in Clinical Psychology with concentration in forensic psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology beginning in fall 2023.


Jocelyn Rudolph '21 is an Institutional Care & Use Committee (IACUC) coordinator for the US Army Medical Research Institute for Infectious Diseases (USARMIID).

Victoria Chang '20 is pursuing a PhD in Neuroscience at University of Colorado - Denver - Anschutz Medical Campus where she is a professional research assistant.

Marie Radinsky '20 earned a certificate in digital marketing from Cornell University in 2020, and is pursuing a MBA at Louisiana State University with an expected graduation 2024. She is a senior clinical trial associate at Cellphire Therapeutics, Inc.

Kallan Dirmeyer '19 is a senior clinical research coordinator in neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins University.

Rebecca Faubion-Trejo '19 is a lab manager and research coordinator at The Fralin Biomedical Research Institute with Virginia Tech Carilion.

Ashley Raley-Dyson '19 is a workforce operations manager and labor market specialist at Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland.

Stephanie Schoch '19 is a  Center for Advanced Studies in Adaptive Systems (CASAS) Gerontechnology-Focused Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (GSUR) summer undergraduate researcher at Washington State University.  The project involves the application of machine learning techniques to smartwatch sensor data and smart home video data for automatic activity learning, including activity recognition and step segmentation. 

Kassidy Bell '18 Kassidy Bell is a study design lead II at Labcorp Drug Development.

Benjamin Ertman '18 served as an English teacher with the Ameson Education and Cultural Foundation and was stationed in Jinhua City, Zhejiang, China, for a year post-graduation from SMCM. He is clinical research assistant at Boston Children's Hospital.

Caroline Robertson '18 is pursuing a MS in Clinical Professional Counseling from Loyola University of Maryland with an expected graduation in 2021.  She is a graduate residence coordinator at Loyola and in summers serves as a junior qualitative analyst for Ripple Effect Communications which  provides professional consulting services focused exclusively in scientific research and health care spaces supporting federal government.

Amanda Sanders '18 is a research assistant at Re-entry Rehabilitation Services in CO.

Megan Schrader '18 relocated to Galway, Ireland. She is a freelance writer for iWriter and interviewer at Interactions Research.

Eliza Appleton '17 is a clinical research assistant in the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Inpatient Collaborative at Brown University.  In August 2021, she began pursuing a PhD in Educational Psychology/School Psychology at University of Connecticut.

Samantha Goodrich '17 is a research assistant at the Henry M. Jackson Foundation of the Naval Medical Research Center.

Claire (Kostelnik) Robey '17 worked for a couple years as a research assistant at the Defense and Veteran’s Brain Injury Center at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center after graduation from SMCM. She is pursuing a PhD in Neuroscience at the Uniformed Services University with an expected graduation in 2024.

Elaine (Bucknam) Clarke '16 was data management specialist with the Rhode Island Consortium of Autism Research and Treatment for just over two years post-graduation from SMCM. She is now pursuing a PhD at UCLA and is a graduate student researcher in the School of Education & Information Studies working with Dr. Catherine Lord of the Center for Autism Research & Treatment.

Benjamin Gramling '16 is a postbacc IRTA fellow at the National Institute on Drug Abuse of NIH.

Arman Karimi '16 is a research technician in the neonatal hypoxia laboratory at UMD School of Medicine.

Liza Moore '16 earned a MS in Higher Education Policy, Research and Administration from Goucher College in 2021. She is a research analyst in the Office of Planning, Research, and Institutional Assessment at Anne Arundel Community College.

Isabel Rickman '16 is a research assistant at John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Emily Rost '16 earned a MS in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at Virginia Tech in 2020, a MA in Data Analytics and Applied Statistics from the same institution in 2021, and then a PhD in Industrial Organization from there in 2022.  She is a research scientist at Human Resources Research Organization in VA.

Michael Speer '16 is  a research specialist at CNA Corporation's Safety and Security Division. 

Michelle DiMenna '15 is a senior research analyst at Education Advisory Board (EAB).

Serra Erbaş' 15 is pursuing a MBA at Vanderbilt University with an expected graduation in 2022. She most recently gained experience as a research assistant in the Decision, Attention and Memory Lab and the Comprehensive Assessment and Intervention Program  (CAIP) Lab at the University of Maryland at College Park and as a substitute teacher for Montgomery County Public Schools.

Sarah (Fisher) von Braun '15 worked as an observation data collector at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health upon graduation from SMCM and then as a clinical research assistant/trial master manager at Westat. In 2020, she relocated to Salt Lake City, UT and is currently a trial master file lead at Syneos Health, a biopharmaceutical contract research organization. 

Danielle Lafferty '15 is a research assistant at UMD School of Medicine and a head coach for Regal All-Stars, LLC, a competitive cheerleading and dance gym in Baltimore, Maryland.

Bradley Roberts '15 was a research assistant at the University of Maryland School of Medicine during the year following graduation. He earned a PhD in Neurosciences at the University of Oxford in 2019. He is a research manager co-managing the neuroscience portfolio in Discovery Research at Welcome Trust in London.

Lauren Schoene '15 earned a MS in Clinical Research Administration from Walden University in 2018.  She is a research program coordinator at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Colleen Hughes '14 was a laboratory manager for the Department of Psychology of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the year following graduation. She earned a PhD in Psychology from Indiana University Bloomington in 2020. She is a postdoctoral researcher at The Montreal Neurological Institute.

Molly Malarkey '14 earned a MS in Energy Policy and Climare Change at the Johns Hopkins University Advanced Academic Programs in 2023. She is a project manager at the The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine spearheading a research protocol: A Single-Blind, Randomized, Controlled Trial of a Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Intervention Delivered by a Smartphone Application to Combat Symptoms of Depression in Service Members and Veterans with a History of Concussive Traumatic Brain Injury. She is also a certified yoga instructor. 

Ciara Willett '14 is pursuing a MS in experimental psychology at Seton Hall University with an expected graduation in 2017. She is a research assistant for Riley and Associates.

Taylor Dimas '13 earned a MPS in I/O Psychology from UMBC at Shady Grove in 2016. They are an intern at Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and a testing proctor at Carroll Community College.

Rina Dudley Gainey '13 is a research assistant for the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders at Children's National Medical Center.

Leanne Hellstern '13 is a research scientist/engineer I for the Department of Pathology at the University of Washington.

Claire La Fleur '13 earned a PhD in Cognitive Psychology from University of Virginia in 2017. She did postdoctoral research at the U.S. Army Research Laboratory for a couple years, conducting research to explore the cognitive processes underlying effective cyber defense techniques.  She is now a data scientist at Booz Allen Hamilton in Baltimore, MD.

Heather Palacorolla '13 is a research assistant at Maryland Psychiatric Research Center.

Liza Sitz '13 completed the level one power vinyasa yoga course at Baptiste Yoga Institute in 2013, and 200 hours of teacher training between then and 2014. She earned a BSN in at Georgetown University School of Nursing in 2019. She is a clinical research nurse at National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.

Ryan Thompson '13 is a clinical research associate II at Supernaus Pharmaceuticals.

Mary Redding '12 is a research program coordinator for The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Katie Serfling '12 earned a MPS in I/O Psychology from UMBC in 2015. She is a research coordinator at CEB.

Christiana Tejaro '12 earned a PhD in Chemistry from Temple University in 2017. She is a senior scientist at Bristol Myers Squibb in NJ.

Melissa Graybeal '11 worked as a veterinary technician for a year post-graduation (she had been in the position for two years prior). She is now pursuing a PhD in Animal Science at UMCP and is a graduate research assistant.

Ashley Holmes '11 earned a MS in Bioinformatics from UMUC in 2014. She is a laboratory research and development specialist at Holistic Industries in Baltimore.

David Johnson '11 earned a PhD in Social Cognition from Michigan State University  in 2017. He is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Psychology and Department of Sociology at UMCP. He is also an advocate for open science. Data and materials from his experiments may be found here. David "employs computational models to study the psychological processes that underlie decisions. He has used this approach to understand decisions where law enforcement have mistakenly shot unarmed civilians. His work more broadly focuses on how race and other social categories impact decisions and the cognitive processes that underlie them." 

Aaron Mirenzi '11 is a lab technician (who won a post-baccalaureate intramural research training award) for National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA).

Katherine Painter '11 earned a MSW in Clinical Gerontology from Washington University in St. Louis in 2013. She is a program coordinator II  of cancer research at Seattle Children's Research Institute. 

Mary Redding '11 is a senior research program coordinator for The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a consent form specialist at Johns Hopkins University.

George Tsereteli '11 earned a MA in Advanced International Studies from Johns Hopkins University - Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies in 2016. He is a senior research associate for Europe and Eurasia Practice of McLarty Associates in the DC area.

Katie (Bamberger) Hemady '10 earned a MS in Human Development & Family Studies from Pennsylvania State University in 2012, and then a PhD in Human Development and Family Studies from same institution in 2016. Her research focused on family-based prevention programs for the promotion of healthy family relationships and prevention of youth behavior problems. She now works as a research scientist and director of the Division of Family Stregthening & Child Wellbeing at the Public Health Management Corporation in Philadelphia, PA where she evaluates the effectiveness of human services and public health programs. 

Katie (Ewing) Janis '10 is a senior clinical database manager at Emmes, a full- service clinical research organization (CRO).

Kimberly (Kimmie) Konka '10 earned MS in Psychology from Drexel University in 2016 and Certification of Advanced Study in Complementary and Integrative Therapies from Drexel in 2017. She is a senior clinical research coordinator at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition. 

Elizabeth (Smith) Khoury '10 earned a PhD in Psychology with a focus in Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Texas in 2015. She is a postdoctoral researcher at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Abby Rowlands '10 is a contracts and grants specialist for the Northern California Institute for Research and Education. She is also pursuing studies at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing.

Valerie Freund '09 earned a MS in Quantitative Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University in 2014. In fall 2016, she began pursuing a PhD in Developmental Psychology at the University of Michigan. She is an intern at NICHD Population Dynamics and a statistics tutor.

Drew Solyst '09 earned a PhD in Neuroscience from Emory University in 2014. He is a Quantitative UX Researcher at Google in Texas.

Shelby Jones '09 earned a MA in Applied Developmental Psychology from University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 2016. He is a researcher II for OMNI Institute. 

Josh Whitt '09 earned a PhD in Neuroscience from University of Maryland Baltimore in 2016. He is scientist in translational research at  FLEXION THERAPEUTICS  in MA. He is  working on developing pipeline programs to address needed non-opioid therapeutic interventions for chronic painful conditions.

April Corrice '08 is a research analyst for organizational and management studies in the office of the executive vice president of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) in Washington, D.C.

Shannon (Kummer) Shaffer is an associate director and outcomes scientist in oncology at AstraZeneca.

Jade (Lubben) Hess '06 is a clinical research coordinator III in oncology for Honor Health in Arizona.

Norah (Harwood) Hibbits '05 earned a PhD in Neuroscience from Uniformed Services University in 2012. She is a senior research analyst for UnitedHealth Group, a research assistant at Savvysherpa, Inc. and founder of The Professional Moms Collective in MN.

Lisa (McQuighan) Jordan '05 earned a MA in Psychology from American University in 2007. She is a senior research manager at The Nielsen Company in Philadelphia.

Alexandra (Sasha Stout) Mesiti '05 is a research associate for KAI Research in Washington, D.C.

James Wise '05 earned a MA in Education and Human Development (Educational Technology Leadership) from The George Washington University in 2012. He is a task lead and senior technical training associate for Westat.

Kelly O'Brien '02 completed a doctoral internship at UNC-Chapel Hill (September 2006-September 2007) and then earned a PhD in Clinical Psychology (child track) from the University of Florida in May 2008. She is a psychologist for Alvord Baker & Associates, LLC, in the Rockville, MD area. She is also a research consultant. Recent projects include helping with the examination of an integrated treatment for mothers of children with ADHD and maternal stress/depression, an early intervention for families of young children with with behavioral inhibition/anxiety, and the addition of emotion regulation coaching skills standard to Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). 

Jared LeClerc '02 was a Peace Corps volunteer in Mali, West Africa for a little over two years post-graduation. He earned a PhD in cognitive psychology from the University of Washington in 2014. He is a user researcher for Microsoft Corporation in the Greater Seattle area.

Jeff Vietri '02 earned a PhD in Psychology from Rutgers University in 2009. He is the director of health economics & outcomes research  for Pfizer.

Loretta Collins '01 earned a MA in Secondary Education (ESOL concentration) from the George Washington University in 2008, and a MS in Soil and Watershed Science from UMD College of Agriculture & Natural Resources in December 2014. She is a faculty extension assistant for the Environmental Science and Technology Agricultural Nutrient Management Program at UMD College of Agriculture & Natural Resources. Loretta also serves as the agriculture technical workgroup coordinator for the Soil Science Society of America.

Robert Friesel '01 was a senior user interface developer for Dealer.com (a Dealertrack Technologies solution) 2013-2019, and is currently looking for a new adventure. He is married to psyc alumna Amy Chess '00.

Bridgett Jean (Harsh) Milner '01 earned a PhD in Psychology from Indiana University in 2007.  Since 2013, she has been the senior associate director of strategic planning and research for Indiana University Bloomington. Prior to that she spent two years as a research psychologist for the Central Intelligence Agency.

Scott Leary '01 earned a PhD in Social Psychology from UMD in 2009. He is a social scientist for the Internal Revenue Service.

Jean Milstein '01 earned a PhD in Experimental Psychology from University of Cambridge/ NIH in 2008. She is a post-doctoral fellow at University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Jennifer (Menard) Marsh '01 has been employed at SMCM since 2001; she is the behavioral neuroscience lab coordinator for the psychology department. She earned a MS in I/O Psychology from North Central University in 2014. 

Amy Chess '00 earned a MA in Experimental Psychology from University of Vermont in 2004, and a PhD in Psychology (Behavioral Neuroscience) from Dartmouth College in 2007. She is a senior manager of design research at Walmart.  Amy and her husband, psyc alum Robert Friesel '01, live in Seattle, WA.

Alise Nacson earned a MPH from GWU in 2004. She is an associate director of patient centered outcomes research at Sarepta Therapeutics.

Karen Schroll '98 earned a MS in survey methodology from UMCP in 2004. She is a senior study director at Westat.

Lauren (Matukaitis) Broyles '95 earned a BSN from Johns Hopkins University in 1998 and a PhD in Nursing from University of Pittsburgh in 2008. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Health Services Research, 2008-2010 and received the VA Career Development Award, (analogous to NIH K-award) 2010-2011. She is a consultant (associate member) for Grant Writers' Seminars and Workshops.
