16.2.1. Simple conjunctions

The following simple conjunctions can combine elements of a sentence, without changing the tense of the elements.

*the alternative form ed is used if the word following the conjunction begins with a vowel, e.g.,

Gianni ed io partiamo domani. = Gianni and I are leaving tomorrow.
