14.3. Endearment suffixes

In Italian, the word for this type of suffix is vezzeggiativo, and its most common form is –uccio. It will agree with the target it is modifying. (As mentioned above, the diminutive suffixes, especially –ino, can also express affection and endearment.)

una femmina > una femminuccia       a girl > a baby girl!

Mario              > Mariuccio                Mario > My dear Mario!
