5.4.4 Spelling changes with nouns ending in –co, -go, -ca, -ga
In order to create the right sound, Italian nouns ending in –co, -go, -ca, -ga
will often insert an –h before the plural ending (-i or –e). E.g.,
il lago > i laghi = the lake > the lakes
la banca > le banche = the bank > the banks
