8. You Make the Call

Today you will be making the decision of whether to use a nuclear weapon or not. It is not a decision to take lightly, as President Truman had to think very hard about the potential consequences of doing this. You will be put in the same situation. Here is the schedule that you need to follow.

Now comes the part where you make the call. You have just become the President of a country called Freedonia, and you are at war with Expensiva.
DO . 2. After you have watched the videos you will open the Atomic Bomb Sim pfd, and read though the information. (you may read through this with a partner) (PDF below called Atomic Bomb Sim) This information will give you the background, stats, and information that will help you start to decide what to do.
DO. 3. After you have read through the sim pdf, you may receive advise from your expert advisors. To do this, find the pictures on the walls with QR codes and scan the QR code. The video will play, and your two advisors will tell you what they think you should do. Use QRafter to scan the code. Once you have scanned it, click on "watch video". Click on the links below, Advisor 1 and Advisor 2. QR codes are not provided today.
DO. 4. After consulting your advisors, you will need to make a decision...on your own (i.e. NOT WITH A PARTNER). You must decide what you are going to do. If you are going to drop the bomb, if you aren't and are going to attack another way. If you are going to surrender. It is your choice.

5. You must sit down and write out your reasons for what you are going to do. THEN, write a short statement that you can make to the people of your country.
DO. 6. Record a short (20-30 second) statement in front of the hanging background in the front of the room. Sit behind the desk. You may (and maybe should) wear the suit coat and tie.
7. Turn in your written statement and reasons for your decision to Mr. Rude via email and submit your video to Mr. Rude. (It can be in the same email) DON'T FORGET TO INCLUDE YOUR BLOCK NUMBER IN THE SUBJECT LINE
8. Watch The World From A to Z. When finished, write a one paragraph reaction to one of the stories they cover today. Turn this in via email.
