3. Farming technology

Ignore the part where I say I'll be back tomorrow. This is an old video and I will not be back tomorrow. I am also not in Elkader.

You will be exploring the changes in farming technology in the 1800's. To do this, you will be making commercials about the following farming developments: reaper, Homestead Act, thresher, steel plow, barbed wire, and the railroads. The following are the guidelines you must follow:

Commercials must be between 28 and 32 seconds. Not 27.9 and 32.1

All members of the group MUST appear on camera. HALF of the members must have speaking roles

The main goal of you commercial is to emphasize the usefulness of your product. Why would I spend my hard earned money to buy your product instead of something else?

You must explain what your product does

You must explain why your product is better than the old way of doing whatever your product does (in other words, why should I buy your product and not just keep doing what I'm doing)

You may use music in your commercial somehow, but you may not "drown out" your speaking parts with music.

You may use props, but they MUST have a purpose.

You may film parts outside of school if you have props or other things that would be helpful to your video.

You must include at least one picture of your product (You may find an original photo from the internet)

You must include contact information for your business (a phone number, or address, etc) and have a name for your business (You can completely make this up)

IF YOU GET DONE EARLY

Here's a link to some interesting videos about the west. There will be no homework, but it adds extra info about what happened out here in the west after the Civil War.
