Seniors' Last Day
Journalism Staff- Seniors, relax. You will get out of school before Graduation. Alternative facts abound that seniors will either not get out a few days before graduation, or worse, that they will have to return to school after graduation. Do not worry, these are falsehoods. In an email issued Tuesday, February 8, 2017 by Principal Randy Mikel, he said he anticipates that “seniors will once again be excused 1/2 days on Monday and Tuesday and then be excused the remainder of the week.”
The reasons for the early days off are two-fold, but they are mostly clerical. Teachers need time to get final grades calculated. Then the administration and counselors need time to verify that seniors earned all the necessary credits to graduate. Once seniors take their finals before graduation, there is really no reason to keep them in school. At that point, they have completed their high school work and have only to wait for the Pomp and Circumstance.
