This has been a very successful fall sports season for Kirksville. With 5 sports winning districts titles, the most in the last 5 years. KHS also had 5 sports win conference.
Volleyball won districts for the second year running. In the past year, the volleyball has built a strong reputation for itself among other schools. They know who the Tigers are and know that the volleyball team does not mess around. Their final season record was 22-8-2.
Softball won districts for the second year in a row. They also won conference. They were on a high last year when they won districts and it was obvious they wanted it again. Softball also had new coaches this year, Coach Allen, Coach Martin and Coach Bischoff. They did a good job coaching the girls this season. They all seemed to bond with the coaches. This trust led them to a good season. They finished the season with a record of 12-10.
Cross country boys team won conference, districts and went to state, with the entire boys team and one girl going. They ended with Kirkville having one all-state athlete, Evan AuBuchon. The boys came out of their season with no regrets and proud of all their accomplishments. Boys cross country made history this year with their wins and they are planning on repeating what they did this year (or better) next year.
Girls Golf was successful and very determined throughout their whole season with winning conference and winning districts. This year Kirksville hosted sectionals and placed second. Abby Boyer was sectional champion. They then advanced to state where they finish 7th, with Abby Boyer finishing as all state.
Boys soccer had a very successful season. Their season record was an excellent 20-2 overall record. They were 8-1 in conference securing them the title. They also won districts without allowing any goals, and advanced to sectionals. Soccer won their sectional game for the first time in school history with the score of 3-2. Sadly Kirksville soccer falls in state quarterfinals with the score of 0-5. Soccer finished with the longest postseason run in program history.
Kirksville Band was amazing when they went to Trenton: Color guard placing first, drumline coming in second. Kirksvillle had the best marching, general effect, and overall field show earning Kirksville Band the 2019 grand champions.
Football had season-ending injuries for a few of their players but fought through. Their win in the first round of the state tournament was a huge success. Doing so has not happened in the last 5 years. They finished 3-8 with 3 other games finishing with a touchdown or less difference between the teams.
Girls tennis saw Christy Kuttenkuler become the District singles champion.
