Ashtyn Hays, the Features Editor of the Paw Print, is a senior who will be graduating in December. She is originally from La Plata, but she moved to Kirksville when she was in 5th grade and has also spent time in Memphis, Missouri. She is taking Publications because she enjoys writing about subjects of her choice. Two of her favorite classes are math and history. She likes that there is always something new to learn in history classes. In previous years, she played volleyball for the high school team. In her free time, she reads or spends time outdoors or with family and friends. Her family includes three sisters and one brother, all younger, and she has two dogs.
After graduating in December, Ashtyn plans to take two MACC classes to begin a nursing program. Then she will apply to the Kirksville Area Technical Center to take the LPN (licensed practical nurse) classes. After that, she will go back to MACC to get her RN (registered nurse). Ashtyn first became interested in nursing in 8th grade, and her interest increased when she witnessed the birth of her sister, which she found fascinating. She thinks she may even want to become a doctor so she can deliver babies. Ashtyn doesn’t know where she wants to live in the future and plans to go wherever her career takes her.
