Did You Know?

Three students in a stats class surveyed the whole student body about their pizza topping preferences, and if they have ever vaped. 173 students responded out of the whole student population.

Within the survey, 57.3% of students said they would not like pineapple on their pizza, and the remainder said yes. The other question I highlighted was if students had ever vaped or used an electronic smoking device, which resulted in 33.7% of students saying they had, and a 66.3% saying they had not.

I also got an inside view of the survey process from Sarah Vorkink, who was one of the surveyors. We talked statistics, the surveys themselves, and had a few good laughs. If you would like to listen to our interview, there is a link posted below.

Sarah wanted to stress that it is important for the grades of your peers to respond to those surveys. When you don’t, it can potentially create issues with something called nonresponse bias. So, next year, let’s use the 7-10 minutes it takes to fill out these anonymous quizzes to help fellow students!
