New History Teachers In KHS

This school year KHS is welcoming two new history teachers to its staff: Matt Kennedy and Jordan Webber. Jordan Webber officially joined the history department this year. She always knew she wanted to be a teacher, as she loves seeing people learn and be interested in what they are learning about. She chose history because she wanted to teach people why the world is as it currently is. Ms. Webber was a student teacher at KHS last year, working with Mrs. Bane. Her student teaching experience at KHS is what lead her to apply for the position. You can find her in Mrs. Bane’s old room, Room 130. Ms. Webber teaches both World and American History. Outside of the school day, she is also the proud sponsor and supporter of Cheese Club. Students who take Ms. Webber’s classes get critical thinking skills, learn to see through a different perspective, and learn about history. Matthew Kennedy is the other new History teacher. He was a student teacher at KHS forMrs. Bane and Mr. Best before moving on to teach at La Plata High School for five years. Mr. Kennedy has a Bachelor's degree in History and a Masters in Social Studies Education. This year, Mr. Kennedy is teaching Dual Credit U.S. History, U.S. Gov., and a study hall. Above all else, he loves teaching DCUSH. Students receive a variety of skills from his class; critical thinking, writing, learning to evaluate sources, and argumentation. Mr. Kennedy returned to KHS because his student teaching experience was so strong, enjoying the staff and the students alike. He decided to become a teacher because of inspirational teachers in his life and because loves history, wanting to be able to use it every day. Ms. Webber and Mr. Kennedy are not the only new teachers; KHS introduced four other teachers to the staff.
