New Field Complex

The School Board has recently approved a motion to build a new $2.7 million on-campus baseball and softball field complex. The complex will be located behind the Kirksville Central Office and Primary School.

A new concrete parking lot will be located next to the existing soccer field with a grass overflow lot by the field as well. The complex will contain two fields, one for softball and one for baseball.

Both fields will have turf on the infield, outfield, batting cages and bull pens. The turf will be an upgrade from the existing fields at North Park that the teams have used for years. The school is looking forward to having the fields on campus in order to control the fields, prevent students from driving to the fields everyday and potentially hosting tournaments.

Many students are excited for the new fields because many of the games during their seasons get canceled due to rain because the fields are not all turf. Getting all of their games in will allow the teams to progress better for postseason rather than having to practice in the gyms while the fields are flooded.

The board says that as long as everything goes to plan, the expected completion date is August 2nd of 2022 just in time for the new school year.
