A checklist catalog, running shoes, and a canister of tear gas-- these are all crucial pieces in a Black Friday survival guide.
We’ve all heard the sad and terrifying stories of Black Friday gone wrong. Here is a compilation of Black Friday horror stories from some students at KHS.
Destry Young was in Illinois for Black Friday last year. She was waiting in line at the local Walmart for the newest Call of Duty game, Call of Duty WWII. She was first in line, so when they unwrapped the games, she immediately got one. Unfortunately for her, however, an older man in line near her pushed her into the freezer and attempted to grab the game out of her hands. Fortunately, she fended off the man and made away with her new Christmas gift.
Fellow student Abbey Ranson went Black Friday shopping with her mom in a St. Louis area Walmart. They decided to use the divide-and-conquer strategy to check everything off their shopping list. Abbey was sent after a speaker bar for her father. Abbey says she was clearly the youngest one in line and there were plenty of speakers to go around. Even so, when an employee unwrapped the display of speaker bars, a grown man pulled her arm back and scratched it. After suffering the wound, she grabbed one of the many remaining speaker bars.
If you have kids or younger siblings that you have to leave at home, leave them supervised by a babysitter or relative. Alex Winkleman's parents left her at home for Black Friday when she was 12 years old. It was getting late and Alex wanted to sleep on the couch bed. She attempted to pull it out, but every time she pulled, the whole couch would move. After a few attempts, her efforts reached a tragic end. She yanked on the couch and it slammed down on her foot. She broke her foot and never got the couch bed out.
