As you can see, the price is much higher (up to 20000Y) than the other concerts listed. (Foreign artists do usually charge a higher price - in this case, an entire orchestra -- the Liverpool Royal Phil -- is coming.)

An amusing blog post, by a male, who was at Lang Lang's April 26 Tokyo recital, describes the showmanship of the pianist. He wrote that the audience was predominantly female, who rose up instantly to give the pianist a standing ovation at the end of his performance, and rushed up on stage to seek his autograph. I believe the blogger also wrote that the pianist threw souvenirs to some audience, which invoked a roar of envy in the hall. SO, mystery solved - this pianist's appeal is his flamboyant personality and perhaps sex appeal to SOME -- emphasis SOME -- females. Liberace -- in his heyday -- held the same appeal, so did Franz Listz. The blog post does remind me of similar blog posts about Nobu's recitals by male observers: in particular the female-strong audience. But one of these pianists is true to himself, the other -- I believe not. But hey, Mr. Lang is laughing all the way to the bank, as they say in this country.

Congratulations to this lucky couple who tied the knot this weekend in Japan, with Nobu as a special guest. Nobu played four "songs" as a gift to the newlyweds, including "when you wish upon a star."

The BBC Proms and the Berlin Philharmoniker both announced their new seasons today. Nobu is not in either one, but Nobu's Cliburn co-medalist, Haochen Zhang, appears in this year's Prom 2, performing Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the China Philharmonic Orchestra. Mr. Zhang is also holding a recital on August 1 at the prestigious Verbier Festival, and after that a recital at the La Roque d'Anthéron International Piano Festival in France
It is impressive that he has gotten invitations to perform at these European summer festivals, and I must say it makes me a little envious. Nobu made a splash at the 2013 BBC Proms and the summer before that he performed at the St. Petersburg White Nights Festival. But this year apparently Nobu was not invited to any summer piano festivals except the Piano/Composer festival in Japan, organized by his own record label Avex Classics. That is a little worrisome.
I hope everyone remembers John Giordano, chairman of the jury of the 2009 Cliburn Piano Competition, who also performed as conductor at Nobu's debut of Tchai 1 in Texas, 2010. Maestro Giordano is retiring. A celebration concert in tribute to him is scheduled for next April, but Nobu is not on the list of participants. See here

Nobu fan Yuko just returned from a trip to Fukushima, and reported that the great thousand-year-old cherry tree Miharu Takizakura has bloomed in fine form. The tree was unharmed by the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, and is a great symbol of the Japanese's indomitable spirit. Nobu would love it.

kitaraが素晴らしい会場でした。
見やすくて、綺麗で、広くて、感動。
また行ってみたい会場です。

ネット予約も簡単にいかない！
登録しているサイトから、「辻井伸行、加古隆、レ・フレール～THE PIANIST！コンポーザーピアニスト・フェスティバル 2014東京公演 」の直前先行予約のお知らせが届いていたのに、うっかり見落としていた。
そこで、一般発売の19日（土）にインターネットで申し込みをしたのですが…。
一般発売は4/19(土)10:00から…なので、その直前２～３分前に申し込みサイトにアクセスし、「申し込む」というボタンを押すだけにセットして時間を待った。
10時ちょうどに申し込みボタンを押したら、「ただ今、アクセスが集中している為、しばらくしてから再度アクセスして下さい」の表示が出てつながらない。
再三アクセスしても同じ表示がでてしまうので、もう半ば諦めていた、が、20分位経ってから再度アクセスしたら奇跡的につながった。
予約時に席が自由に選べるようになっているけど、平日の午後のコンサートなのに…すでにサントリーホール大ホールの席はほとんど埋まっている。２階のＳ席がひとつだけ空いているのを見つけようやく予約できた。
初めて聴くことになる辻井さんの生演奏、今から楽しみです。９月初旬とまだ大分先のことなので忘れないように手張に書き入れておかなくては…。
それにしても、どのくらいの人が同時にアクセスしていたのかわからないが、人気のあるコンサートのネット予約は、案外大変なんだなぁと実感しました。
Booking on the web did not go easily!
On a site for which I had registered, I noticed the pre-sale of THE PIANIST! "Nobuyuki Tsujii, Takashi Kako, Les Freres Pianist Composer Festival 2014 Tokyo performances" had come to past, and I had overlooked it inadvertently.
So, I went on the net on Saturday the 19th of ... general release.
I waited for the start time of 10:00 for the general release on 4/19 (Sat) ... I accessed the site 2-3 minutes just before then, and pressed the button "subscribe".
I pressed the subscription button at exactly 10:00, did not get through. The display came out that said "access is concentrated for now, please visit again in a few moments." I kept trying, and still got the same display. I gave up after a while. But, miracle of miracle, when I tried again in 20 minutes, I got through.
And I was able to to choose my seats at the time of booking. Although it is a concert in the afternoon on a weekday, the seats in Suntory Hall Great Hall were almost filled
I will be listening to Mr. Tsujii live for the first time. It will be fun ...
I do not know how many people were accessing at the same time; I realize now online reservation for a concert is quite popular.

Last night I had no classes. Can you believe it? NO classes! I felt almost sick with the excitment and thought of dozens of things I had long wanted to do. Had it been a fine evening, I would have driven to Enoshima and had dinner with my children admiring the sunset. But no, the weather was too miserable. I made hot tea and turned on the computer. Now that I knew nobody would charge me even if I watch 100 programs on YouTube, I entered, "Rachmaninov Piano Concerto". I picked the one played by Nobuyuki Tsujii, the blind genius. OH! How beautifully he played in front of hundreds of people in London! The moment he touched the last key, the theater was filled with roaring applause. The standing ovation was followed by Mr.Tsujii's solo, "Campanella", which was even more overwhelming ...

パソコンの方でも試してみたが、残念！ もう完売、
43分、「リ～ン」ガチャッ・・・つながった、
すると女性の声で、予定数を完売しました・・・だって・・・
だったら、つながらないようにしてよ、
10円の無駄遣い！ 結局買えないうえに、10円を損して・・・！！

Ticket sales started at 10, after waiting for hours!
Did not get through, but continued pushing the number, even from another cell phone ...
No pick up, would not pick up ... started to get frustrated!
15 minutes, 30 minutes, 40 minutes passed ...
I even tried on the personal computer, but sorry, sold out already!
At 43 minutes ... kept trying
Then came the voice of a woman, and was told ... had sold out the allotted tickets ...
I could not get through, and wasted 10 yens on top of that!
Well, how the hell can you buy those tickets? !
If you got connected on the phone ... it is a miracle! ...

Tickets came in general release for several of the "Pianist/Composer Festival" concerts slated for August - all sold out in no time on PIA - another impressive show of Nobu's awesome star power in Japan.

The city Mobile is located in the southern tip of Alabama, facing the Gulf of Mexico. Its history most certainly dates from before the founding of the United States; it is a town rich in atmosphere.
Everyone here seems to love music. There are several concert halls, and some people were playing music on the streets.
The venue, Saeger Theatre, is a renovated movie theatre in the United States a great hall with seating capacity of 1921. Brick exterior, with " French Renaissance" style interior; the building was built in 1927 and is a stunning building .

Barker, who has graced this page with many like's, is none other than general manager of the Mobile Symphony Orchestra . And, get this, he is also the principal clarinet player of the orchestra, and it is he who started the Prokofiev No. 3 at the performances with Nobu! We are honored to have had such a distinguished visitor in our midst And thank you for your hospitality to Nobu - I heard that he is thrilled.

１００周年記念式典へ！
宝塚大劇場で行われている式典の生中継を東京宝塚劇場で拝見しました。
ゲスト方々がとても豪華で、特に辻井伸行氏のピアノ演奏は本当に素晴らしものでした。
終演後はもちろん同期会。
白ワインのボトルが次々と空きました。（私は飲めないのでオレンジジュースばっかり）

Nobuyuki Tsujii was born sightless, but not without abundant talent. At the age of 2, he began to peck out melodies on a toy piano after merely hearing his mother hum them. At 4, he began formal study.
In 1995, the 7-year-old won first prize at the All-Japan Music of Blind Students by the Tokyo Helen Keller Association. At age 10, he debuted with the Century Orchestra of Osaka. He went on to earn top honors at the 15th International Frédéric Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland, as well as the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.
The guest from across the Pacific will be a featured performer as the Mobile Symphony Orchestra runs through a survey of works from another Asian country, Russia. The program lists pieces from Prokofiev, Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky, but all eyes will be trained on the man with his own eyes focused nowhere.
Saturday’s show is at 8 p.m. and Sunday’s matinee is at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets are $20 to $65. Students K-12 receive free admission to the matinee when accompanied by a paying adult. Just download the Big Red Ticket from the MSO website.

サントリーホールで辻伸行さんのピアノリサイタルがあり、キーン先生の友人と一緒に行きました。その前に森ビルのクラブハウスで食事をしてからサントリーホールへ向かいました。
曲目はショパンとリストでしたが、私たちは辻さんの演奏にすっかり魅了され尽くしました。この日は一連のコンサートの千秋楽とあってアンコールも大サービスでした。楽屋で挨拶もさせて頂き、素晴らしい記念になりました。

(Dr. Keene is "an American-born Japanese scholar, historian, teacher, writer and translator of Japanese literature. Keene is University Professor Emeritus and Shincho Professor Emeritus of Japanese Literature at Columbia University, where he taught for over fifty years. 辻井伸行さんのピアノリサイタル（３月２８日）
サントリーホールで辻伸行さんのピアノリサイタルがあり、キーン先生の友人と一緒に行きました。その前に森ビルのクラブハウスで食事をしてからサントリーホールへ向かいました。
曲目はショパンとリストでしたが、私たちは辻さんの演奏にすっかり魅了され尽くしました。この日は一連のコンサートの千秋楽とあってアンコールも大サービスでした。楽屋で挨拶もさせて頂き、素晴らしい記念になりました。

A nice comfortable performance. It seems his grandmother is a Takarazuka fan. Tsujii likely had been looking forward to playing today.

We are very impressed. Although we skipped the first song first because seems so severe, the second song Tempest by Beethoven is great. Although I wonder if he is still too young to play the tempest, we went on to listen to the Liszt. I was very impressed with his "Pictures at an Exhibition" by Mussorgsky . official site (What gives? Why does Avex make Nobu shrill for ticket sales when the footage would be seen by so few?) Nobuyuki Tsujii’s 2013 PAC performance of Debussy’s Estampes will be broadcast on Performance Today on Thursday, April 3. "Nobu" is the Van Cliburn Gold Medalist who was born blind. His unforgettable Hodgson Hall concert moved many patrons to tears.
"Performance Today" is a U.S. radio program. The recording is now available for listening indefinitely here. I am listening to it now -- it is Nobu's delicate playing at its best. This seems to me a much better live performance than the one I heard in Seattle in January 2013 - perhaps due to better circumstances (venue, equipment, more performances).
As always, the segment is thoughtfully presented, starting with a nice and concise introduction of how Nobu learns the music and how he plays so accurately, and ending with this:"Tsujii is a mega-star in Japan. His solo recitals always sell out, and now he has started composing film scores as well. His is a name to watch. Nobuyuki Tsujii, that is spelled T-S-U-J-I-I." [Our Japanese friends may disapprove of her pronunciation of Nobu's last name - please see FAQ-1 (TZU-GEE. No strong E at the end, and NOT TSU-GEE) -- I have been told that it's one of the most difficult to pronounce names in Japan.]

まずは 10-1 スピードは僕が練習するよりやや速いスピード。
中間部が、ショパンが指定したとおりに演奏されていてカッコイイなと思いました。
個人的にはこう弾きたい！という思い入れのある部分ですがこちらのほうが正しいは正しい。
彼も含めてですが、多くのピアニストが 盛り上がってきた後に ちょっと溜めて アルペジオを弾くんですよね。上がっていくところ。どこのことか分かるかな＾＾；あそこは溜めない方がいいと思うんだけどな～。いずれにしても、素晴らしい超絶演奏でございました。

10-3,4は僕が練習不足なので割愛 素晴らしい 演奏でございます･･･
10-5 主題の最後の右手のシをもっと響かせたほうが好みかな。中間部もっとブァー！！と右手のアルペジオ出したい！
この曲は誰もかれもがあっちこっちで弾いているからどうしても色々気になってしまいます。しかしこれは10-1,2,3,4弾いた後で、しかも目が見えてない状態で弾いているわけでしょ。出来るか！本当に素晴らしい。スタインウェイもキラキラいい音出していますね！
僕は彼の ジョドォ が好きです。日本語だと水の戯れなんて訳になっていますがそのまんまの名前のほうがいいよ絶対。

神 様のカルテ2の音楽は、林ゆうきさんが担当していたんだけど、素晴らしく良かった。そして前作の辻井伸行さんのテーマ曲を服部隆之さんが編曲して、さらに サラ・ブライトマンに歌わせるとか豪華すぎて反則でしょ！w とにかく、耳でも楽しめる映画だった(^o^)Music Kamisamanokarute 2, Yuki Hayashi-san was in charge. It was wonderfully good. Mr. Takayuki Hattori arranged a theme song of Nobuyuki Tsujii for the prequel, sung gorgeously by Sarah Brightman; and more!
